We have been hearing that we are now entering the 21st centruty, that is because 1999 AD is about to end…
But I was thinking, correct me if I am wrong, that when they said it was 1 AD, it was actually 0 A.D. but they cannot name a year 0 so they called it 1, and when it was 2 AD, it was actually 1 A.D. because only 1 year had passed… So now when we are entering 2000, its not 2000 but actually 1999 AD.
If you think there is good in everybody, you haven’t met everybody.
Kinda confusing, but then again, i think you yourself are confused too. I dont think there is anything wrong in the mathematical part of the whole thing. The year that was called 1 AD came when one year had passed since they instituted the calendar. The day the calendar started would be the start of the year 0, but i dont think they switched it to 1 just to make it politically correct. I guess they just didnt bother with it much until a year had passed when they started calling it 1 AD. And dont confuse the 21st century with 1999 either. The 21st century refers to the period between 2000 AD and 2099 AD.
