Ye theek hai?

Suppose i have a pizza slice which e.g. is 700 calories. Then on the treadmill i lose those 700 calories. Will i gain? Lose? remain as is?

Re: Ye theek hai?

Say your daily maintenance level allows you to have 1,500 calories a day and you end up having 2,000 calories, this will lead you to gain weight, however if you burn say 700 calories out of the 2,000 then you will be left with 1,300 calories resulting in a loss of weight considering you will be under your daily maintenance level of 1,500 calories.

Re: Ye theek hai?

well duh. lol sorry bt its quite simple...you are burning calories equivalent for the extra you had so obviously you wl remain same. however its nt as simple as calculating it this way because there r so many other factors involved in this. for example, you are burning only your extra calories but the excercise itself wl help with yr metabolism too so eventually it may end up making u loose weight if you are regular with yr workout.

hope u get it now?

Re: Ye theek hai?

nicely explained. i always wondered about this. so on the exercise bike if I bike up to the 700 calorie mark it means that i burned that amount from my daily consumption. that would be wonderful. if say i get tempted to eat a yummy butterfinger choc bar and i just couldn't resist, one bar is 220 calories and 10grams of fat so how would that only be 220 calories that I would have to run or bike to work off that temptation of mine?

i didn't think it was as simple as you explained it here, what about the fat content of the butterfingers bar, don't you have to figure that in as well?

Re: Ye theek hai?

Yeah that was my point. As long as i burn the extra calories i got from the pizzas, lasagnes, burgers, chips i had, i can eat them all! :aisha: :shoaby:

Re: Ye theek hai?

zyada khush mat ho, aisa koi scene nahi hai unless you are really thin u cnt really have all those things regularly.

Re: Ye theek hai?

Sari khushi par pani pheir dia :nahi:

I am not thin at all, trying to but not good with controlling my diet. Therefore, i resolved that i will eat what i want but as a punishment i will reduce those calories i have taken up. So 600 calories of lasagne i gain means i do treadmill, ellipticals, bike equivalent to 600 calories.

Re: Ye theek hai?

You dont want to be eating rubbish like that on a persistent basis.

Whilst some say a 'calorie is a calorie' 600 hundred calories of say eggs, oats and an apple is a lot lot better than 600 calories of any fast food, which is full of fat and all sorts of rubbish you dont want to be eating often

Re: Ye theek hai?

Yes, you do have to consider the fat contents in the bar. Macro nutrients and dividing them equally is very important, especially when one needs to lose weight.

Now lets get on to the calorie contents there is in a gram of protein, in a gram of carbohydrate and in a gram of fat.

1 gram of Protein has 4 Calories
1 gram of Carbohydrate has 4 Calories
1 gram of fat has 9 calories

Therefore the best one can do to achieve maximum weight loss is to take most of their calories from proteins or carbohydrates and then the last priority should be fats.

90 calories out of the 220 in the choc bar you like comes from fats whereas the rest I assume come from elsewhere i.e: Protein/Carbs. Its not the best food when it comes to weight loss as majority of your calories are coming from fats, however this does not mean you should rule out the choc bar, you can have it, just not to the extent of having only the choc bar thrice a day.

The general rule is to shoot towards getting 40% of their calories from Proteins, 40% from carbohydrates and the remaining 20% from Fats. This should help reduce the body fat percentage on the body by atleast one fourth or half on a weekly basis.

Re: Ye theek hai?

LOL umm you do realize that all the foods you mentioned are junk foods?

Junk foods can be had when on a weight loss diet but not everyday, theres usually a cheat day in a week where one can have whatever junk food they most crave for. However as long as you do not go overboard with the 40/40/20 rule you can have it almost every day. You would just have to do slightly more burning/exercising than most people.

Re: Ye theek hai?

Aww, don’t lose hope as yet.

As long as you get most of your calories from Proteins and Carbs and less from fats, you’re free to have your favorite foods.

Re: Ye theek hai?

Friend Daffyduck,

Dont burn your calories in counting calories.

Try to eat natural foods and only eat when you are hungry. For the most part, avoid packaged, frozen, microwaved, canned food, etc.
Eat less meat and animal products, and more fresh fruits and vegetables, raw nuts, unrefined grain. (White rice, btw is a refined grain), beans, etc.

To burn alot of calories: do aerobic exercises, for instance, swimming, badminton, tennis, biking, house cleaning, brisk walking, running around like kids, playing games on msft kinect, feeding birds, running on dirt paths, etc.

(Never run on concrete/paved walkways, it weakens the joints and muscles)

*To gain muscle and tone: *do strength training, for instance, lifting weights, lifting babies, vacuuming, gardening, etc
