Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

yes but its better not to mention them and their meaning :D

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

Dont tell me he said that on radio?

I worked with different radios as a freelancer. Lets remain it undisclosed further

I have never heard their show entirely, but have always heard them switching the channels. Sorry to say…they used all that abay, tabay, tu, taraak language!! Now even if they were delivering a meaningful message, I am talking about the the decency. When you are on a mic, it is your RESPONSIBILITY to stay civil as you are supposed to be an ideal or icon for the public. If you set such an example, what would people learn from you??

Radios are heard by every age, youngsters to olders!! That is what I am trying to say here. The feeling of “responsibility” has entirely vanished. The true meaning of holding a mic and act as a responsible civilian has totally lost!
I understand they might want to introduce some informal programs.. but again… there is a huge difference between being informal or being extra-chichora!!

On radios, public is “listening” to you, not watching you!! they tend to set your image on hearing basis, they judge you and your personality while listening to you. Its your voice and words that make them think the kind of person you are. In such a situation, your responsibility towards proving yourself as an good example to the listeners, increases more!

The only program I came across of Sahir, that I truly loved was when he used to mimic on a radio show. Not even mimic, I guess he used to appear as different characters, kabhi lawyer, kabhi doctor, kabhi qasai and all that :hehe: and yes, that was the ONLY show, that I loved. Baqi, a big no!!!

Radio: reasons for decline in Pakistan - DAWN.COM

Radio throughout the world is still the strongest and fastest medium of communication as it is convenient to tune in for programmes, news or infotainment even during travel and driving.

**However, in Pakistan, its popularity graph has certainly declined and the reasons of its being dysfunctional are not difficult to ascertain. I remember the days when a broadcaster would never bother about better pay scales, perquisites or luxuries of life. He was concerned only about production and if a couple of his listeners praised the programme, it was all that the genuine producer needed. That was the biggest reward for him. (Tareefon se pet bharta hai kiya? :hmmm)
**

A few good words about the programme gave them pleasure beyond description.

But then the rat race of pecuniary considerations started everywhere and professionals too were seen standing in the queue. This trend of materialism overshadowed professionalism.

But this, to be honest, is not the sole reason for the decline. After the advent of TV, particularly news channels, the functionaries and especially the top brass of every government became more interested in viewing themselves on large screens rather than listening to their talk on radio.

**
Many heads of government or state continue to address their people on radio every month, including the president of the United States. It is specifically termed ‘radio broadcast.’
**
**
So one must ponder over as to why the most powerful medium abroad has become a feeble voice in Pakistan?
**

It is, therefore, time the government convened a high-level conference of broadcasters and media managers to find out a solution to overcome the financial crunch being faced by the Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation.

The government should take measures to save the medium that gave Pakistan vocalists like Noor Jahan, Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Abida Parveen, Roshan Ara Begum, Zahida Parveen, Pathanay Khan, Faiz Muhammad Baloch and newscasters like Shakeel Ahmad, Anwar Bahzad, Anita Ghulam Ali, Mahpara Safdar and many more, besides drama artistes who can now be seen on PTV.

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

well honestly speaking, yes they used to say abay tabay and some other words in codes but their show was better than many others as i mentioned earlier, shows which involved callers like Gaana dedicate karna hai, meri call lag gayi and i remember their healthy conversation with callers on some topics so in case of mani azfar, langauge was not a major issue because of good content (its just my opinion :)), and they sidelined all other Rjs in terms of popularity of their show. They switched channels (fm103, then 105, then 96) because of payment issues.

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

May be newcomers attributed their succss to this abbay tabbay language and then they took that as inspiration for the garbage we are listening nowadays on Radio.

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

garbage shows started on radio in 2003-2004 when fm107, 103 ,96 launched, before the entrance of mani azfar on radio :hehe:

That was studio time last segment of the show.I think he took the idea from Anwar maqsood’s loose talk where moin akhtar appeared in diff characters.

I like his discussions on certain topics. He can speak so maturely on serious matters exactly the opposite of what he is on TV.

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

who started all this?

Is this abbe tabbe is limited to Karachi’s Radio stations or others are equally guilty?

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

don't know about other cities but i remember a show on fm 96 with dino, raheel (who appears in baraat series and in other dramas) and a character Master sahib, this show started before manzi azfar's show and all garbage in that show, useless conversations.

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

You mean to say TV ka mahol kharab hai :hehe:

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

Has anyone of you ever heard Faseeh zaka show? An oxford graduate and all he does is demotivate callers who can’t speak english. All the munnu, guddu type people he has on his show make sure that all the callers are insulted and they don’t even listen what the caller wants to say.Apart from the usual bukbuk they don’t show respect to callers.

Complex k mary islooites

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

 They might be popular with burgers and wanna be bund kababs

Re: Ye Radio Pakistan Hai

Dino left that show, my cousin was a fan of master sahib he was curious about his age :hehe:
Dino’s solo show was great as he promoted underground bands and most of them were pretty good. After him was Ali safina’s show DESI CLUB which was all about bhangra songs .
