God only destroyed people in the days of yore. Nowadays he doesn't send messengers, nor does he seem to actively participate in matters pertaining to life on earth. Perhaps he has decided to give up on mankind altogether, and rather concentrate on life on other planets in far away galaxies.
Of course whats occuring in this war zone is sadly not unique, this is what war does to people.
But its the divine justification thats rare. Not by the ones commiting these atrocities, but rather according to some muslim preachers, who believe isis are not implementing the concept of "right hand posessions" correctly. Rather than outright saying that such norms from the middle ages were inhumane and barbaric, and must be vehemently opposed.
