we have a long weekend [Thanksgiving weekend] here in Canada.
we had a Turkey Dinner last night and the whole clan gathered together and it was so much fun. we had loads of foods [alHamdolillah] and lots of people and we chatted till late, played boardgames and also card game [Coat, Piece…have u played this game?].
i know that Americans celebrate in November but how about in Europe? ****when do you guys in Europe have it? ok, now you guyz tell us how you celebrate Thanksgiving if you at all celebrate…we do NOT celebrate as such…just the family/friends get together and have food together…it’s just a bahaana to throw a party!
What is the history behind Canadian thanks giving ?
because it's NOT a celebration about harvest, it's about welcome safe homecoming of Explorer Martin Frobisher from an unsuccessful expedition to find Northern passage to the Pacific. he landed in Frobisher Bay, a small fishing community in Newfoundland * and this is where it was celebrated.*
No thanks giving in the UK - its a very north american thing!
We have something called the harvest festival but its not a holiday.
**oh ok...that's what i had in the back of my mind coz i never heard anyone from the UK ever mention this holiday.
