Yay for Mario Lemeiux

Always loved watching this guy play. It’s good to see that he’s sticking around for a while.

PITTSBURGH (AP) – Mario Lemieux will return for at least one more season with the Pittsburgh Penguins, who have fallen on hard times since his surprise comeback 2 1/2 years ago.

In announcing his return Thursday, Lemieux said he’s in much better shape and is 12 pounds lighter than last year – and he didn’t rule out playing beyond the upcoming season.

I retired before for 3 1/2 years, and I know how much I missed it,'' the Hall of Famer said. As long as I feel good physically and mentally, I want to play.‘’

It will be great fun to see a legend like Lemieux back in the Penguins' uniform. It's great for hockey, but may not be enough for the Penguins; since they don't have players like Jagr, Kovalev anymore..and I doubt that they are in a financial position to acquire good players through trades or free-agency...the team is heading for another dismal season..

Lemieux should move the team to Quebec City, where they are hungry for hockey since the Nordiques moved to Colorado.

Well, I doubt that that is going to happen..since Qeuebec City is not big enough market from the financial stand-point. I know that the Penguins haven't had any great support from the Pittsburgh community either, but moving a team from the US to Canada will not happen that easily..

The team will never move to Quebec City due to politics but it should. No one cares much for hockey in Pittsburgh and I don't think Mario coming back will achieve all that much. I hope he plays well but there is almost no help for him and the Pens are just awfull these days. IT would be sad to see him retire on a terrible year where he gets like 40 points.
