come on dont you women have to step out of the kitchen to get dhaniya podina from your garden?
Re: yard 101
Nope ! I get it from my friend who has more than enough growing in her back yard!
Re: yard 101
GTG, my ammi had the biggest green thumb you’ve ever seen. Her back yard garden consisted of: thurray, baingan, bhindi, tamatar, hari mirchis, peaches, strawberries, blackberries, podina, karri patta, figs, motia, raat ki
rani and a bunch of other stuff I’m sure I’m forgetting…she composted as well.
unfortunately, I did not inheirit the talent and the I my things I’ve managed to keep alive are my podina & karri patta ![]()
yard 101
Gem, I can relate to khatti here. ![]()
I’ve never been able to go beyond dhania podina… Mainly because in Europe we always stayed in apartments and didn’t have much space. Ever since we moved to isloo, we always got the accommodation on 1st floor. Now my kids really really want their own place or at least ground floor so they can do gardening. So atm our gardening is limited to a few herbs…n that’s it. I’m fortunate however, that my Ammi n phupho / taai Amma keep sending us home grown lemons, oranges etc. may Allah bless them! ![]()
Re: yard 101
My mom in Pakistan has a cute lawn where she has oranges, lemons and if you know Kachnaar. Dhaniya podina sometimes. She was thinking to get few more veggies but dont know. In Australia here we have a very big front lawn and a small backyard but although I like to have home grown veggies and fruits but too lazy to only do it on my own. No help of MAALIS here na.
