So for Thanksgiving this year, I wanna make yams. Don’t know if I should make them from fresh sweet potatoes or like my mom is saying to use canned yams and re-cook them? There are a million recipes but anyone have a tried recipe?

make them from fresh, we usually just bake it(better than boiling, it retains lot more nutrition and taste) then peel and mash it with salt, pepper and few spoons of either gravy or liquid from the turkey.
