Minister of Britian [1905-08]:

Take not as (your) Bitânah (advisors, consultants, protectors, helpers, friends, etc.) those outside your religion (pagans, Jews, Christians, and hypocrites) since they will not fail to do their best to corrupt you. They desire to harm you severely. Hatred has already appeared from their mouths, but what their breasts conceal is far worse. Greed and lust for power. The curse on Muslims since within a century of the Prophet's death.
And Muslims are happy to follow those who are greed and with a lust for power, since we rarely take any action against those of our leaders anywhere, anytime in history, who do.
When the khalifat broke in half and Cordoba declared its independence... Spain's Muslims cheerfully went along with it rather than revolt and storm the palace and kill the newly self-appointed khalif.
