its less of callig anyone anything, but if it is meant to degrade someone or poke fun at them, one can be offended.

I mean if it comes down to stating facts, people can state other facts like

ghareeb, pockmark faced, darrhiyal, kali, ganja.

I think the issue seems to be with people who think that pointing out other's deficiencies or characteristics as a taunt should be considered okay.

The thing is that such people get all bent out of shape when you throw it back at them. I recall some girl I knew pointed at my receding hairline and made a joke about it, I immediately responded back by making fun of the acne scars on her face..but ooh that was bad, that you should not do. Question is...why?

the question is, why be insensitive to others? and wonder about their reaction rather than your action.
