I’m sorry but does that not sound absolutely ridiculously absurd to be charging THAT MUCH for bridal makeup??? It will be washed off at the end of the night. Thats the highest I’ve been quoted so far.*** I’m just wondering with their kind of prices, whats their all around service like?? Anyone?
yeah these girls are really expensive...i dont get this "west end" thing.
5 years ago...they charged me $120 for party makeup, which was done by Ruby and Amber.
Yeah Shirley is super expensive too I've heard and also really good... but okay like 300 or 400 for both days total....BUT $850 for two days?...like WOA but even for people who can shell out the cash or can afford it thats TOOOOO MUCH for a few hours of makeup IMO like toooo muchhh.....maybe its just me but when I got their email I had to pause for a second and actually read it over because I couldn't believe people are charging soooo much...like thats a scam?? I'm sorry but people are just milking it these days because of the demand and I guess its working....Thats money literally down the drain and I just don't get it, its not even a keep sake item...you wash it off!! lol
I guess no one has really had a bridal experience with them because no one posted. I think I read somewhere that they rush and don't give their complete 100% to you because they have other bookings on that day. Unless they can make us look like a clone of a bollywood beauty...I can't understand why anyone would want to pay so much even for your wedding, I don't know...didn't mean to go out on a rant but just my thoughts on it lol..
u know what i would do. i would book them for a trial on the day of your wedding...and go get married..call them the next day and say you are going with someone and thanks anways
:)
$180 for actual Real Day wedding makeup!
lol
I like Shirley, because I know her and a lot of people I know have good experience with her. I went to Xpressions once, and i wont go again.
Unfortuantely this is the going rate for experienced make-up artists in the GTA that cater to desi brides.
What you can also do is get them to do the make-up ($250) and get your hair done else where.
As far as I know, Shirley is priced the highest ($500 before discount of $25 if you book her for more than one event). She did my cousins make-up in Jan. It definitely wasn't airbrushed. in fact we were not even told that it is an option. I wish it had been becasue it came out looking rather heavy in real life and in pictures. Airbrush make-up is so light...looks MUCH better.
Secondly, I would advise you to get an artist who shows consistency in their work. I don't care if it's Shirley or R&A, choose whoever you like but make sure taht they are consistant. IMHO, I have seen at least 15 brides by Shirley and it's a hit or a miss. Simple as that. I am taking my chances with R&A but it's something I'm willing to do since they are the best among the options I have considered.
I had my make up and hair done by Amber and ruby for wedding day and reception. Amber came to Markham but didn't charge anything for travelling. They were really nice and the make up was good! :)

Really eh?? Woww ..and I agree airbrush comes out alot nicer in pictures. For my nikah in person I felt it was too light but then when my pictures came I was really happy with the look. What about going for lighter on the foundation if you won't be going with airbrush? Would that work? Airbrush is definitely really good for girls with light scars or acne marks on their skin, it really helps to cover those in pictures. Will it make a difference for girls who don't neccesarily have to many marks or anything?
Airbrush is most compatibale form of make-up with HD technology. So by using airbrush your photos and video will come out better. That's what i've concluded from the bit of research I've done. Not necessarily great for people with acne, others can benefit from it as well.
i almost went with these ladies for my makeup but didnt because the lady quoted me 200+ for just hair extensions over the phone without even looking at my hair. When i told them that it didnt cost me that much the last time i got my hair put up for the nikah , they went into a tirade about how its important to have human hair extensions for the "look" even if the hair is covered up :S Also they charged more for airbrush and i found someone who included the air brush in the trial and the actual makeup the day of.
I personally know two ppl who got their makeup done by xpressions.
One didnt give them a very good review and said that they were expensive and that her eye lashes were falling off when she was on stage she also said that she didnt like their attitude. THey seemed hurried because they booked many brides in one day and just generally had a bad attitude towards their competitors (shrily wu etc etc.) .
The other friend said they were very good and that their makeup does not melt of smudge at all. THe second lady also cut costs by borrowing hair extensions from someone else. she also mentioned that during the makeup sessions that they seemed a little rushed but everything turned out very well.

i didn't know that... how many people are hiring hd videographers, i wonder...
The difference is clearly noticable in pictures alone.
I guess it has a lot ot do with how much attention you give to detail and how much extra you are you willing to pay for the 'upgrades'.
