I was just wondering if any of you learned folks can inform me if the xbox console supports pairing up with a 5.1 home surround sound system? Also, i am assuming that the games today would support the 5.1 thing i.e. come equipped with 5.1 encoded sounds/music for the games.
Also, it may be worthwhile to know if the connection to surround sound system from the xbox console is made through a) a digital cable b) an analog a/v cable?
I’ve plugged my Xbox into my 5.1 surround sound system, but I’ve never actually tested if I’m getting any benefit out of it, other than loud sound from my phat amp. (I’m lazy, see :halo: )
The Xbox does not by default support digital audio out, so I’ve plugged it in with analogue cable.
To make more money, Microsoft charged extra for an official xbox attachment that you can buy which gives you digital audio out functionality.
yes it does.. i think i did have to buy an add on for that functionality though but its quite worth while in the end after you play games on with 5.1 channel output.. :) but ofcourse it also depends on the decent woofer and atleast half decent speakers.. good luck blastin'. :)
You can attach an X-box with a 5.1 receiver and get sound in All Channel ... however X-box's regular cable only provides Stereo red and white connections. I have not modified my Xbox in any way, I get sound in 6 speakers (I won't call it 6.1, though).
yes it does... as for my laziness I did the same thing as Maddy did (pluged that into aux in my home theater system)... am too lazy to go out and buy advance aud kit.
