I’m thinking of either buying Xbox or PS2. I’m not too sure which one to get or should I even bother getting it. I’ve already got PS and I hardly play it anymore.
I’ll only be using it for about 4 months or so (summer vacation).
I’ve heard Xbox has better graphics, but fewer games. PS2 has decent graphics, but it offers a large variety of games.
Also, can I please be suggested some games for both Xbox and PS2.
Hi Sadiyah...i would suggest u buy a ps2 although i hate choosing between the 2 since I own both :P. The reason is simply as u mentioned.. that while xbox is a more powerful machine, it is simply lacking in a decent variety of games.PS2 has been out for a alot longer and thus has a great selection of games. If not anything else PS@ looks alot cooler and is more economical space wise. Good Luck.
Personal A+ Ps2 games:
Final Fantasy X
Gran Turismo 3 and the upcoming 4
ICO
Grand Theft Auto 3/vice city ;)
Socom/Socom2
Kingdom Hearts
DDR
Sly Cooper
Silent Hill 3
Fatal Frame 2
Castlevania: Lament of Innocence ...and too many more to list
Xbox:
Halo: Combat Evolved
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic
Splinter Cell
Splinter Cell 2
Ninja Gaiden
Crimson Skies: High Road to Revenge
Panzer Dragoon Orta
Top Spin
Project Gotham Racing
Unreal Championship
PS2 has alwayz been better than Xbox, primarily becoz of da wide selection of games.
My favorites
Gran Turismo 3/Japan
Grand Theft Auto Vice City
Resident Evil 4
FIFA 2004
Smackdown
To ans haris's question, if ur buying original CDs 4 PS2 then ur PS2 will not develop any faults, but if u get a chip installed, so that it plays pirated CDs, ur PS2 will run out in a year. The best chip comes 4 almost $500, which is not worth it. Buy them originals, & u'll be having fun 4 a very long time, unless of course PS3 comes out.
daring to differ from the opinions above, sadiyah, if i understand correctly you will only be using it for an odd 4-month or so...so the variety for xbox games (or lack thereof) should not really be that critical a deciding factor for you. As it is, what i can assure you is that xbox has ENOUGH decent games even today to keep you occupied for the 4-month period. Guaranteed.
When making an investment decision today, as a general rule of thumb, go for the better machine. it pays rich dividends later on.
Xbox...its superior graphics (especially with the additional cable) will make you realize what you miss on ps2s :)
If you have small girly hands, though, you’ll have trouble holding the Xbox controller properly though. It’s the biggest console control pad there is … it’s man-sized
I kind of did the same thing - I brought my Xbox to get me through a 3-month summer when I was tragically separated from my beloved gaming PC , but I’ve hardly played it since that 3 month period has been over.

Atleast in the US, all new X-Box's typically come with Controller-S now. It was designed for Japanese market so it has smaller controls, like PS-2. So, atleast, this shouldn't be a problem.
After much research I've decided to purchase Xbox, insha'Allah.
I've already got PS1, so I guess I want something different for a change now.
kaka malang: Thanks for the list of games.
mal1k: I modified my PS1 last summer and it has been working fine so far, alhamdulillah. In fact, I plan on getting Xbox modified once I purchase it.
Khanzada: So the extra cable will further enhance the graphics? Xbox has too many accessories to it. :\
mad_scientist: I wouldn't say I have small hands, but I did find Xbox controller a bit too big. I guess PS controllers are perfect for my hands. Also, if I like it I'll keep it. In fact, since I'm gonna get it modified I don't think I'll be returning/reselling it anytime soon unless I happen to find it a real bore.
Faisal: I believe I saw a picture of Controller-S online. I thought it is the same as the regular one? Anyway, I guess I'll have to look into it. How much does the Controller-S cost on an average? Do I have the option of going with Controller-S when I purchase the console or is it incumbent upon me to buy it separetly?
I already hate the fact that there are so many accessories that I'm supposed to purchase for the Xbox (extra controller, dvd unlocking device, extra cables, etc.).
Also, what are the first few games (or the very first game) that I should purchase?
now you can buy most new games for both x-box and playstation. so the argument that PS2 has wider game range is not true anymore. EA, Blitz Games Ltd., Curly Monsters Ltd., Double Fine Productions Inc., Radical Entertainment Inc., Vision Scape Interactive Inc. and Yeti Interactive are developing most games for X-box.
here are few games
Halo
LOTR
Dead or Alive
Tony HAwk's pro skater
Max Payne

All new X-Box's (atleast in the US) now come equipped with Controller-S. So you don't have to buy it separately. They are not shipping the old regular controller anymore. And the Controller-S has smaller controls and is more logical similar to PS-2.
Also, X-Box is ready right out of the box.
I don't know why you would buy any accessories, unless you are planning to use the X-Box as a DVD player, in which case you buy a US$39 DVD remote. A typical X-Box package comes with all the cables, a game and one controller. You may need to buy an additional controller if you are planning to compete against a friend in a multi-player game or you may want to buy the X-Box Live in case you want to play over the internet (you will need broadband ethernet to connect the X-Box to your internet). Otherwise, you buy X-Box and you are ready to go. You will need a TV, ofcourse. :)
Got Controller-S with it and a bunch of wires. I didn't purchase any extra games nor did I get any free. Gotta wait till tomorrow to have it modified, insha'Allah.
Faisal: Another controller is mandatory for me. I will be playing against sis for now and later on against cousins.
I'm interested in purchasing DVD kit, but don't think I'm gonna worry about the extra cables for now.
Halo sounds good. However, I'm also interested in purchasing some vs fight games.

That is y I siad that if ur modifying it, get da best chip not da cheaper 1nz. PS1 was a different story. It was da 1st attempt by Sony, & a successful 1 of course. They Xpected piracy but not 2 da Xtent that PS1 carried. PS2 was specifically built 2 make users pay 4 da originals. Getting a PS2 fitted with a chip is easy, but its not worthwhile...trust me.
