so after the months of hiring cabs for work related visits, the bosses felt for me and last week suggested that I can get a new ride for myself (well there is a limit). Now I have two options, go for harsh and bulky X5 or a classy Cayenne.
Last week I took my Director Services’s Cayenne Turbo V6 for a ride to Luton, and I loved it.. of course they will not let ME go for a new turbo, but I may succeed to get a standard version.
Actually the offered me to have an X5, but since the price difference is not much I can get a cAyenne instead.
Sure they'll give you a new car, but why were you taking a taxi to begin with? If you couldn't afford a car then, let me suggest you stay clear of either Porsche or BMW now. Get something cheaper on petrol. Get something smaller to drive around. Volvo C30. Done. If you must with a SUV : VW Touareg or Volvo XC90. Diesel.
If you can foot the bills, get the BMW X5. A brand new product launch, and simply amazing in comparison with the dinky base model Cayenne.

sorry I didn't make it clear before, the company has a contract with this chauffeur cars service, which provides cars for every long route travels (for higher management) & for higher ranking clients visiting our head office. so its not like picking a cab from the road.
as for myself, I woun't be paying bills. even If I was, Alhamdullialah I can pay it myself, and I had a Z3 for some time. :-)
To be honest, there are a number of very decent SUVs in the market. With your budget it'll come down to picking which one grips your bum just right. XC90, Touareg, Q7, X5& Cayenne are all great cars. One I wouldn't recommend though, is the ML.
I don't know much about Cayenne except the exterior styling, which I don't like at all. The X5 4.8i Sport looks awesome, has a great ride, handles very well and feels very quick. The Lemans Blue color looks great on those.
I think its a close call. No way its a slam dunk either way, unless some one is totally put off by the styling of one or the other. Porsche's Cayenne claimed the title of best performance SUV right from the time it came out. It has amazing power (I only drove an 'S'). The new X5 is pretty kewl too with great road manners and refined interior. If I were you, I'll go with X5 but thats simply because it offers 3 rows of seating which is important to me. For you thats probably a meaningless option, so I'd say flip a coin. Nah, just kiddin... go with Porsche. You will love it.
ai concur with faisal, go with the porsche.
I have driven both, and prefered teh handling of the porsche.
as far as the x5 goes, I think the new mdx and the new..and old infiniti fx45 perform better.
x5 responsive? i dunno if we were driving the same car, i found the x5 to be rather bulky in its handing compared to cayenne.
Is it possible you may have driven the standard 3.0 instead of 4.8i sport? There's a huge difference between the two, and 4.8 seems very quick and responsive.
i have driven an x5 and its a decent suv (i personally don't like suvs)..especially since you are not paying for it and don't have to worry about the maintenance costs its realllyy ur personal preference..try each one out and see which one you like.
don't know how ur companys sets up the contract/leases with this limo firm but if possible see if you can have both. 6 mon porsche/6 mon bmw
personally i would not waste my own money on either, I prefer a sports sedan or a coupe over an SUV any day.
G35 lover, I just love the new 2007 G35 sedan, the coupe G37 isnt out here but I adore it completely. I know you love it, & I have complete respect & love on this statement of yours.
I would prefer the Cayenne Turbo Formula red color anyday with 900bhp fine tuned to my needs. Yea baby, now thats what Im talking about.
