Is it permissable to rinse the mouth/nose/wash hands ect ONCE and not 3 times. I know thrice is the sunnah, but speaking from a perspective of sheer FHARD, is it valid if I only perform each action once?
Plz provide sources.
Thanks

Re: Wudu question.

Is it necessary to do Wuzu after Ghussal for Namaz or is Wuzu not needed after Ghussal to Pray?

1. According to the Hanafi Madhab, there are four Faraaidh in Wudhu and many Sunnats. A person should try his level best to perform his Wudhu according to the Sunnah way. However, due to circumstances, for example, shortage of water, etc. a person may suffice by fulfilling only the Faraaidh of Wudhu.

It is Mustahabb (good) to make Wudhu before performing Ghusl.
If one did not make Wudhu, the Ghusl will suffice. There is no need to make Wudhu after the Ghusl is performed. If one passed wind during Ghusl, then the Wudhu will be invalidated. **
Re: Wudu question.
Make wudhu before ghusl because they are two different things.
Btw, all the above was taken from www.askimam.org

How Ghusl is performed
According to the practice of the Prophet, upon whom be peace, the correct manner of performing ghusl is:
1. wash both hands three times,
2. wash the penis,
3. make a complete ablution (like the one made for prayer--the Prophet used to delay washing his feet until the end of his ghusl if he was using a tub, and so on),
4. rub water through one's hair three times, letting the water reach down to the roots of the hair,
5. pour water over the entire body, beginning with the right side, then the left, washing under the armpits, inside the ears, inside the navel, inside the toes and whatever part of the body can be easily rubbed. This account is based on the following report from 'Aishah: "When the Prophet, upon whom be peace, took his bath after sexual intercourse, he would begin by washing his hands. Then he would pour water from his right hand to his left and wash his sexual organs, make the ablution for prayer, take some water and put his fingers to the roots of his hair to the extent that he sees that the skin is wet, then pour water over his head three times and then over the rest of his body." (Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim.) In one narration it states, "He used to rub his head with his hands until he was certain the water reached his skin, and then he poured water over it three times." It is also related that she said, "When the Prophet would perform ghusl after having had sexual intercourse, he would call for some water, which he would pour on his right hand to wash the right side of his head and then the left. He would then take water with both hands and pour it over his head." Said Maimunah, "I put water out for the Messenger of Allah to perform ghusl. He washed his hands two or three times, and then he poured water from his right hand to his left and washed his private parts, wiped his hands on the earth, rinsed his mouth and nose, washed his face and hands, washed his head three times, poured water over his body, and finally moved from his place and washed his feet. I brought him a towel, but he did not take it, for he shook the water off with his hands." (Related by "the group.")

Re: Wudu question.
Look back to the first thing I posted...

"A person should try his level best to perform his Wudhu according to the Sunnah way" (which is washing 3 times.)
Only when you don't have the water available or even the time, you may perform the fardhs.
Re: Wudu question.
Re: Wudu question.
I just do the fards. I'm lazy. I've heard that although its undesirable to just do the bare minimum, it is permissable.
Re: Wudu question.
If we have the love for Allah and our Rasool, we wouldn't be lazy like this, to not just wash ourselves 3 times.. you work or go to school don't u? You have many other challenges in life you go on and do it, why become lazy with our deen..
Sorry, not trying to point it at you, just as general.. We become lazy when it comes to our deen. Afterall nothing else is going to help you, just Islam.
Re: Wudu question.
Point. Noted.
Re: Wudu question.
How to perform wudu!
*"O you who believe, when you get up to perform the Salat prayers you shall wash your faces, your hands up to the elbows, wipe your heads and your feet..." (5:6) *
These are straight forward instructions from Allah.
cheers!
Re: Wudu question.
Leaving nafl will lead one to leave sunnah, leaving sunnah will lead one to leave faraidh and leaving faradh may lead one to leave islam.
