Kal Shab tha mein ajab se haal mein,
Jal uthi thi meri jaan jo teri yaad mein,

is ghuncha-e-dil se manoos se mahak ati thi,
jo har lamha tarpathi thi mujeh teri yaad mein,

Har koi tha magan is ajab se saaz mein,
gounj uthi thi meri dharkan to teri yaad mein,

Ginta rehta tha chupke cupke se raat mein,
mil gai thi mujeh jo ghum-e-doulat jo teri yaad mein,

Jalaya karta tha har koi mujeh shaam mein,
bn gai thi mein shamma jo teri yaad mein,

Dil-fareeb ata tha nazar har manzar is jahan mein,
chaa gai thi mousam-e-bahar ki badli to teri yaad mein

Kal shab tha mein ajab se haal mein
mere dil ka ghunca khil utha tha teri yaad mein
