I have written few articles before and carry a limited knowledge about writing. Though not a mature writer, me and my friend have been asked to write a survey on a bank. We have never done anything like this before and have absolutely no idea what it should be like. We will be going to the bank this Sunday. Any tip or advice in this concern would be highly appreciated.

Start off with..what types of bank..retail, wholesale, investment etc. then look at subsector..bulge bracket.moenycenter, super regional, regional or community....then Look at the activities ex..credit cards, types of acct etc for retail...trade fiannce, commercial loans for wholesale.....investment products, underwriting....M&A etc.for I_Banks..then look into the strategy of one particular bank for a single proudct offered. For ex..Citi NRI services or wells fargo Small Busines Loans...do some research and compare to it's competitors and viola!!!!
ChaltaHai- actually, it’s about one bank in particular; United Bank Limited and I have to throw light on how it is serving the Pakistani and other societies in Qatar.
The easiest thing to do since you have the bank identified already is look at the product set. The website should offer that info. If it a public company then look at investor relations portion of the site. Also see if you can find an annual report. Untimately, it depends on what you want per your survey. If your focus is on Pakistani related products. I would foucs on remittances and trade finance.
You may also be able to find out some of the banks major clients from Pakistan if they have any and you could try talking to their finance dept.

On the left hand side are the major departments of the bank (in fact any typical commercial bank)
On the right hand side, you have three major links a) UBLOnline-a service that allows depositholders to access thair account from their laptops/pdas b) United Money-Market Fund (UMF)-Pakistan’s first true money-market fund c) Annual Report 2002.
Our bank has recently been privatized (i am sure you know that)…bought by the Abu Dhabi-based Bestway Group and Al-falah Consortium.

Furthermore, a lot of the larger banks around the world commission third party surveys (health checks) from McKinsey, Booz, BCG etc. I would recommend that you do an online search for such surveys and that can be a foundation for the content.
