i’m very happy today and i wanna share with you, my fellow Guppies and Gappans at GS, the great news about my nephew.
his MCAT scores were in today and alHamdolillah he did very well. he scored**** 39 ****which is considered to be in the top 97.5-97.4 percentile. congratulations to him from me for the hard work and upon achieving high success…thanks to Allah.
he is planning to become DVM [Doctor of Veterinarian Medicine] at Cornell University in New York in the Fall of 2012, inshaa Allah.
plz pray for his success in gaining admission there. thankoo
He must have a very high GPA as well. Hopefully he will get into Cornell. Even if he doesn’t that is not the end of the world. I am sure he can get into other medical schoosl and that is no small achievement either.
Waisay, wouldn’t an MD degree make more sense financially? Unless of course he is really passionate about veterinary medicine.
YES, we did our best in convincing him to do medicine but he says he is least interested in treating humans and he is truly passionate about helping birds. he wants to specialize in avian medicine. he has been volunteering at vet clinics for the last 3 years while he has been doing his undergrad degree. he has traveled even to the arctic circle for this purpose. he doesn’t want to do anything else in the world. he says his sister is already a doctor so one is enuf in the house lol
inshaa Allah, he will be accepted because he has perfect 4.0 GPA. his average is 95% while in math/physics courses he has 99% alHamdolillah.**
Re: wow! my nephew scored 39 on MCAT...congrats!!!

MashaAllah his volunteering portfolio is impressive indeed and a 4.0 GPA is perfect too! Now I don't know if he can't get into Cornell then who can lol.
And yes I think it is very important to follow one's passion. There is plenty of money and prestige with DVM too. And someone like your nephew who is both passionate and talented can do exceptionally well in the field of his choice.
