Wow! Anyone read this book on pakistan?

Browsing Amazon.com saw this book on issues facing pakistan - anyone read this and care to comment?

There is a vast and burgeoning literature on the problems facing Pakistan. Economists have analyzed why Pakistan failed to become an Asian tiger. Political scientists have theorized why democracy failed to germinate in Pakistan while it flourished in neighboring India. Defense analysts have reviewed the failings of Pakistan’s military in its myriad wars with India, and wondered why the two militaries that shared a common parent in the British Indian Army have fared so differently. Sociologists have discussed the impact of militarism on Pakistani society and studied, in consort with political scientists, why Pakistan cannot free itself from the scourge of militarism. This book weaves together these multiple strands of research.

Im sure if its discussing Pakistan as being a failure, you'd be the first to read it...

Btw, like it or not, the economic situation (atleast the figures) is extremely good right now... Who cares what this author thinks? Democracy flourished in neighbouring India LOL

It seems kinda expensive to buy to try. That's why I'm looking for comments from anyone who's read it.

.

another one of those writers who think military is the only source of pakistan's constant troubles. their using words like 'militarism' etc is pathetic. why can't people, pakistanis and non pakistanis realize that the problems are much more complicated than just 'militarism'. why don't such experts like this author sitting in places like AIIS write books about the wrong doings and blunders of civil rulers. the corruption of the civil society. why doesnt anyone research on the causes of continued irresponsibilty on the part of the social systems, trends-feudalism?
there are loads and loads of books all around writen by such authors on both India and Pakistan and i thnk they serve only the purpose of swelling up their bank accs. because this kind of research (as they call it) actually does no good to the reader or to the concerned nation.

and by the way;

"is a vast and burgeoning literature on the problems facing Pakistan. Economists have analyzed why Pakistan failed to become an Asian tiger. i totally disagree with the above statements by the author, so reading the book is out of question.
which other country became a "Tiger" within 56 yrs of its creation? who says demoicracy is "flourishing" in India? Who says pakistan 'failed' in all
wars? in what sense did the two armies fare differently? and pakistan did not free itself from "militarism" because of the corrupt civil influentials who believe with the bottm of their heart that Pakistan is their inherited property and they can do with it whatever they may desire.

and by the way, whats so 'wowowow' about it?

Don’t bother reading this book people
If you want to read a book that gives you the root of all the problems in Pakisan, you absolutely must read this one ( I am not sure if the link will work)

The name is “War at the Top of the World: The Struggle for Afghanistan, Kashmir and Tibet” by Eric S. Margolis
Likely the best political book I have ever read… Incredbily well written and the auther has travelled most of South Asia first hand and actually met many of the figures who shaped the politics of the region in the last 30 or so years,

looks like neither the writer nor the reviewer actually knows whats happenign in pakistan....

and those who think india is better (economically, politically, socially, bla bla bla) need to get their heads out of the sand....
