Would you want to know?

Courtesy an episode of Scrubs…

Let’s say you carried a gene for an illness that at its worst caused cognitive failure and muscular degeneration and had no cure or even treatment. Added to that, it could strike at any time (in youth or even into your 70s).

Would you want to know or is there no point in knowing since nothing can be done and knowing is just a “death sentence” that would change how you lived your life?

Re: Would you want to know?

wudnt want to know, because whats the use of living my life in fear!

Re: Would you want to know?

Wouldn't want to know because like you said there is no cure so you can't prevent it. Might as well live in a bliss while one can.

Re: Would you want to know?

is this something that I could pass on to my off-spring? if yes, then I would want to know.
actually.....come to think of it.....I would want to know in either case......simply because somehow or other my life would impact another's......

Re: Would you want to know?

Yes. Imagine the amount of guilt trips I could pull?

Re: Would you want to know?

Yes I would like to know, because it will change things.

^ this

Re: Would you want to know?

I would definitely "love" to know. In fact it'd give me a very valid reason to have more fun in life.

Re: Would you want to know?

I'd like to know too. I'd stop taking life for granted then and stop putting things off till tomorrow which may never come. I don't know if I'd want to have kids though if I knew....

Re: Would you want to know?

^ that's what I was thinking too.

Re: Would you want to know?

I would want to know.

Re: Would you want to know?

I wouldn't want to know. I would rather live not knowing what's going to happen or else I'd be in a perpetual state of fear of when that illness would strike.
