Would you Vote either of them????

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

^And then there was no massive crowd when Bhutto was hung! No real protest!
I am not condoning or talking about tire burning, bus burning or making lives of common people more miserable!

The country was quiet as everyone smelled a snake! No leader of PPP could come up with strong statement either.

No real statement from his wife either who took her chaadar!

Are you going to blame Zia for that? (not supporting him) Or fear in people who allegedly said they will give life for him?

What protests were done for bibi and by whom? Villagers in some areas mostly from Sindh, living in cities carried out crimes against common people and burned lots of vehicles in three to four days. They caused a lot of damage to country. No peaceful Jalsay, no bycotts etc.

In both events it showed, these leaders were for themselves and were looking forward to move on.

Who are you fooling dear!

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

Voting for either one would not be democracy in the real sense. It would simply continuing the feudal system that the Bhutto's brought with them.

BB was only popular because she was Bhutto's daughter. Had she been someone else's daughter she would have been an unknwon housewife.

BB is nt a hero too many people remember her corruption. People cant say much about her because out of respect for Sindhis. Nothing else.

Most of their followers are **blind. **They follow the Bhutto's on family name. It is just a family based feudal system.

They will suffer greatly in the hereafter because of their crimes against the nation.

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

Do not talk about past guys. i am talking about future... wil pakistanis again fall for these so called leaders?

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

if yes then they should not talk abotu not having electricity/water/food/health/education. if any one vote for present leaders than in future if they face same difficulties they have no choice other than staying quiet because its people who elected this out of mind non prefessinal leaders.

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

Looks like you were living in another planet. Zia-ul-haq declared emergency during that time and we were performing 24 hours security duty. He unleashed his power against any peoples’ reaction and particularly PPP was main the party under persecution. All its key leader were either house arrest or behind bars.

While it is true emergency was imposed and it is difficult to mobilize the masses, the rhetoric of 'giving life for Bhutto' by either people or politicians was empty! (Not that I wish people should have died on streets)

Many avenues of protest still were open despite emergency.Bhutto did hunger strike in jail, didn't he?
Could the heavy hand over lawyers by Musharraf stop lawyers from protesting for example?

Let's face it, Bhutto was a politician and had made many mistakes. Before he was hung, not only people but even Bhutto was thinking nothing will happen to him.

Bhutto's close allies knew he was guilty one way or other, and did not want to go all the way to support him.

Personally, he should not have been hung and perhaps he deserved some time in jail. This was not 'first degree murder' and I am no lawyer nor I know all the details of the case.

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

Still not getting the point. Why would YOU vote for these politicians again... or thier relatives such as son,brother,nephew...etc.. Why .. why on earth you would do that despite knowing what they are doing and what they are capable of... well they can do nothing.. really. nothing just talk and talk.

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

Lets take the best revenge!!! ......
and dont vote for them at all!!!

Are you kidding?? Where you even around in those days, or are you just repeating what people told you?

I have been around for these events, and can tell you the whole country was in mourning when ZAB died, all shops were shuttered, and there was a palpable sense of sorrow in the air. The fact that Zia shot people who publicly protested limited public jalsas.

When Zia died when there was a huge sense of relief.

Tens of millions still adore ZAB to this day, unlike Zia who's son could not even win a few thousand votes to get elected to the National Assembly.

As for the huge mourning when BB died, you cannot call people all over Pakistan as being from Sindh villages. Very narrow minded thinking.

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

^ You have your opinion and you are free to keep.

To OP, Votes should be given to politicians and not to relatives of politicians without credentials.

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

ok guys i have strated this so i will ask you.. why is that we the common people are not asking these politicians who are supposed to be serveing this country and common people are trying to be kings.. Why... politicians are here to server the country to make it progress... why pakistanis not stand togather and ask to these politicians... why. why you cant stop working untill government makes every thing right..
stop going to bank/college/office/organizations/transport. every thing comes to halt untill its done for once and all.

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

Did you guys listen or watch about
*Kyrgyzstan ????
*

Yes of course! We have a taste for blood lines. We will never get rif of the Bhuttos as where they have the most power is basically a feudal area.

The Bhuttos are here to stay - dead or alive.

We also have the Sharifs, the Wali Khan's. Alatf Bhai has a daughter right? I am sure she will become immortalised too! The Balochis go on about freedom and equality yet they have their Bramagad or whatever his name is Bugti - the grandson of Nawad Akbar Bugti. These people want freedom from Pakistan so that they can start their feudal lineage system.

I cant wait for the spoilt brats Hamza and Bilawal to take part. I hope neither of them or their siblings have any kids!

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

But cant any one make law or rule for next 10 years that no one from old politiicnas are sllowed to take part in any kind of political activity. Just new fresh people have to be in front.. just for a decade...we need new people. fresh blood. not in means of bilawal or hamza. but noew generation who want to do some thin gnot those who think that they are boen primeminister

Re: Would you Vote either of them????

yes, if I get the chance, I will vote for PPP. it isn't about Bilawal or any personality.. it is about the party. PPP represents liberal values. it is a truly national party. ideally, I would like to see the PPP led by Aitzaz Ahsan, Raza Rabbani, Sherry Rehman, etc. but the Bhutto name still has appeal in the masses. and if the cream of the PPP leadership - people I respect - is fine with Bilawal, then so am I.

initially, I was also disgusted beyond belief when Bilawal was announced as co-chairman. but once you think critically about the political culture in Pakistan, it makes perverse sense.

yes, in an ideal world, your relationship with the leadership would have nothing to do with how far you got in politics. but you have to look closely at the politics in Pakistan. if you look back at previous PPP govts and how the ISI chief was actively trying to buy MNAs to bring down the PPP govt, what do you expect the party to do except to close ranks and trust only those expected to not betray it? and if you're going to trust anyone, chances are you are going to trust family, blood relations. despite the kind of torture that Zardari underwent, he did not betray BB. he suffered but remained loyal.

look at Nawaz Sharif. after the coup, vast majority of his people betrayed him. what did Sheikh Rasheed, Chauhdrys, Mushahid Hussain do to him? they all betrayed him. is it any surprise that he trusts his own family - Shahbaz, Hamza, Ishaq Dar - more than anyone else?

it is the fault of our political culture... where a lot of forces are constantly working to buy the loyalties of politicians and bring down govts. so, it is inevitable that political parties will close ranks and become more about loyalty than meritocracy.

want that changed? come out on the street when the army makes moves against democracy. don't distribute mithai - protest just like we did when Musharraf destroyed the Supreme Court. if you're not willing to fight for the respect your vote deserves, then live with the lineage-based democracy. you and I deserve it.

Your making excuses for them.

The reality is that in Pakistan people have started blood line politics and it goes against the interests of democracy. No one but a Bhutto can lead the PPP now - classic example of how Bilawal Zardari had the Bhutto put in his name.

Why are you blaming agencies? We just have a blind feudal name/family based structure. Where is the PPP/Bhutto's most popular? Surprise surprise the most feudal areas of Pakistan ie Sindh, and Southern Punjab. Family name, heritage, caste is deeply ingrained in this part of Pakistan. This is how the Bhutto's will always work.

Did the agencies have anything to do with Bilawals surname going transformation? LOL

have the agencies been active in persecuting politicians of all stripes in our history or not? have they been involved in bringing down govts or not?

how did the IJT come into being? did Hameed Gul the head of the ISI construct it or not? was Brigadier Billa trying to buy up MPs to defeat the PPP govt or not? were the agencies and NAB used to blackmail politicians into supporting Musharraf or not?

in the end, I seriously advise you to behave like an adult. so less LOLs and more rational thought please. LOLs don't add weight to your flimsy arguments.

We are talking of family feudal politics and by sidetracking the issue wth probably partially correct assumptions does not add weight to your flimsy excuses too.

BB needed some social standing so se used her fathers name. She used a dead man to popularise herself. Ironically her widower is now using his dead wife ie the very lady who used her dead father to popularise his self.

i will LOL if i find the argument funny!

the following is what you said about ZAB in another thread:

how was BB or how does anyone use a "murderer, thief, exploiter, looter, torturer, liar" etc to gain popularity? if you know all of the above as facts, how was BB able to use the name of such a terrible person to propel her party into power three times?
