would you spend more on...

Skin Care Products (ex. cleansers, tonors, eye creams, etc) or Makeup?

I would say skin care products. That is, I would buy better quality and pay more for Skin Care Products than Makeup.

Re: would you spend more on...

Skin care products definitely.

Good skin eliminates the need for too much makeup.

skin care

Re: would you spend more on...

skin care products :)

Re: would you spend more on...

I'd like to say skincare products but all my skin care products (that keep my skin looking good) are natural and not very expensive. Expensive makeup does a better job than expensive skin care.

makeup

Re: would you spend more on...

I would (and actually do) spend more money on quality skin care products as opposed to makeup. Though I have foundation, I don't usually wear it. I prefer to have healthy/clear skin so that I don't have to be dependent on it.

Re: would you spend more on...

Hands down makeup. I guess it has a lot to do with the fact that I'm young and have pretty good skin so my skin is never the focus of my attention. If I would splurge on a skin care item, it would be something that was to treat something such as a patch of dryness or a dark spot etc.

Nowadays, I spend more money and splurge on makeup. I'm on a makeup high right now, I have bought so much awesome stuff since I posted by collection for the makeup collection thread that I am dying to post an update once everything I ordered comes through.

Re: would you spend more on...

I always choose Good skin but not makeup,as it means a lot to us.

Re: would you spend more on…

Make-up.. :hayaa:

Re: would you spend more on...

Expensive skin care products don't necessarily ensure good skin :)

I'd go with the makeup.

Re: would you spend more on...

My make-up collection is worth more than my "skincare products". BUT that's b/c I don't see the point in spending $$ on expensive skin care products. I've used the expensive brands (La Mer, Chanel etc).....and current my "holi grail" products are all drugstore brands.

With skin care products, its the ingredients that make a difference....NOT the brand name or packaging. So if someone actually takes the time to research the ingredients, they can find non-expensive products that will "get the job done". Also with skin care products, you don't need tons of it! I just have the following: clensar, toner, glycolic cream, Queeen Helene mask, sunscreen, and vaseline. All those things combined....retail value isn't more than $40.

Make-up on the other hand......b/c there is so much more than is needed(wanted!)......shades of blush, shadows, lipsticks....brushes, foundation, powder etc.....that the $$ adds up really quickly.

Re: would you spend more on...

Skincare but only cos i dont wear makeup lol.

Re: would you spend more on...

Yay@ all of us girlies who'd dish out on makeup! And Paheli, please do tell us the product names for each of your skincare stuff. I'd love to know since my skincare routine is a mixture of high-end and drugstore.

Re: would you spend more on...

^ I've used both.. I do love Le Mer's face serum.. Elizabeth Ardens was a waste of money! Glycerine and rosewater as a moisturizer and a homemade 'cleanser'.

Re: would you spend more on...

No problem. Below is what I use (w/ some notes on the side). Again....this may not work for everyone...but for me....right now these are my "holy grail" products. I have combination skin. Used to have a major problem w/ acne up until my mid 20's.

1) Neutrogena Deep Clean Facial Cleansar (I use this as a make-up remover and only use this when I wear make-up. Usually most mornings, I just wash my face w/ water only).

2) Biore Triple Action Astringent (I use this every night.....instead of using the cleansar ever day).

3) Alpha Hydrox Souffle 12% Glycolic (After the toner, I put this on every other night; probably will to increase that as I age but for now this is ok with me).

4) Queen Helene Mint Julep Masque (usually use this once every 2-3 weeks).

5) Neutrogena Dry Touch SPF 30 sunscreen

6) Vaseline. LOL....I have the Vaseline lotion in case I need to touch up dry spots during the day but on most days, I don't need a moisturizer during the day. I have the vaseline jelly and if I face starts to feel dry at all...I put that on at night. I've tried expensive and drug-store moisturizres and for me....nothing performs as well as this for extreme moisture (and no complaints on price either!).
