He also makes sure that when we sit at a table or anywhere, i sit first.
He'll ask me where I wanto sit, then make sure its clean and okay for me to sit on.
He'll only sit after he's made sure that im comfortable where Im sitting.
When we are out he'll walk with a protective hand around my waist and belly.
Sometimes it seems funny but i think its kinda cute.
That's so sweet! My hubby does the first two.....I'm more comfortable holding hands but it's also sweet when he puts his hand on my back protectively to guide me away from danger (like if some lady's about to bash her cart into me).
sadi as you say this, u must be aware that you do many things which are considered proper etiquettes i.e. pretentious tripe :)
after all why use spoon for broth ayways, just pick up the dang bowl and gulp it, and whats so wrong with spaghetti hanging out of your mouth as you slurp it in ;)
My high school in england required finishing school and edict school for all graduating students... at the time it was the biggest ANNOYANCE IN OUR LIVES!! But as most of the girls there were the children of govt officials and diplomats it was deemed necc..
Now, I work in Private Banking at a bank and I use what I learned in those classes all the time... I actually feel awful for how petulant we used to be with our counsellor.... I truly believe that the confidence with which I "work a room"/ attend lunches/ and deal with these clients can be attirbuted to that class..
But more importantly, my parents were in a situation where these skills were called upon all the time... I think exposure to those events is what really matters...and you dont know where or when you will need these skills....
Its not everything, but these extra touches never hurt anyone, but lets just say this...I have never curtsied since my high school graduation..!!!
Oh common Fraudz, you cannot compare the two. Gulping down soup or letting speghetti hang is considered to be bad manners in all western cultures, wheras I can guarentee you that 90% of working and middle class people wouldn’t give a damn about such things (mostly cuz we don’t know any different )
OMG, I’m obviously hanging out in the wrong social circles if people aren’t picking me up on which whay i position my cutlery
OMG, that must mean my social class isn’t high enough :doublyeek:
OMG, looks like I’m never gonna become ‘upwardly mobile’ :tripleeek:
Allah mian please forgive me, for I know not how to eneter and leave a car
Finishing school is for the children of those parents who didn't teach their kids enough manners, and also for those who have more money than sense (like a menage a toi for idiots). In that spirit my kids will never need such an education. I think saher02 has it right. Id rather invest that money in sending them packing to the Himalayas or something.
The white-peoples lived in caves and hovels simulatneous to the Indians writing and indulging in aesthetic appreciation. I would rather my kids learn the etiquettes of a tapestry more rich.
If you really do have money to waste then give it to the poor, such bakwas is usually the luxury of the upper-middle classes. The complex kai marai baicharai.
