Re: Would you respect a girl…
Hey now, respecting a woman should not be contingent upon her cooking prowess. So what if a woman can’t cook, she may excel at other fine arts!
And yes, before you say it, I can cook ![]()
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
achem You can bake if i recall correctly. Not cook. Big difference :p
If she can't cook she is still lacking. The finer arts do not make up for the lack of a sammich when I watch the PAK-AUS game today.
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
Not that we need to discuss my cooking skills (and yes, I can too cook and not just bake), but in all honesty, yes I think a girl needs to know how to feed her family. I don't think she needs to be able to put on an elaborate meal, but she should be able to feed her family well-balanced meals. This is part and parcel of her role as the nurturer and provider for her family.
That being said, a guy should also be able to do the same.
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
Okay so you agree. If she does not cook, she should be respected less. Brilliant. Thanks for supporting me cuddlemuffin! :p
Re: Would you respect a girl…
^ I don’t disagree with you just to be contrary. If and when I disagree with you, it’s when you’re wrong, which is quite often.
Since I’m giving you credit for reading with comprehension, I’ll direct you to my exact comment which did not equate respect with cooking skills, rather cooking skills as it relates to a wife and mother’s role as a nurturer. Cooking as I see it is part of good parenting, rather than sammich making for the beer-bellied husband.
Oh, and please no endearments with the word muffin in it, I’m on a diet :hinna:
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
I dont mind teaching her ..... if she is willing to learn ...
one would lose my respect for not having a trait but for not doing something to improve the situation ...
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
Do women respect men who don't know how to cook? YES, they do.
I think that about settles it.
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
There's lots of women I respect and I have no idea how well they can cook.

Re: Would you respect a girl.....
How much I respect a woman has nothing to do with her cooking skills!
Cooking inability is not a deal breaker at all but yes if I were to pick and choose I would prefer my future wife to be able to cook at least once in a while. In the United States hiring a 'khansama' or even a maid from Mexico is a luxury, out of reach of most people. And dining out or getting take-outs all the time is neither a very appetizing proposition nor, more importantly to me, financially prudent. Also I would not like to be the sole cook at home. :)
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
I'm a girl, and so no. Same goes for guys honestly. I don't like it especially if they're away from mummy jee's house and don't even attempt to learn to cook because it's against their shaan or something. (they = guys and girls)
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
I have already told a girl that i will make her my ghar ki bahu because she makes the more delicious chai. She will have to wait a little though.
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
NOT AT ALL....
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
^ Good call. I wouldn't say that I won't respect her but when I think of my mother, and all the stuff she can cook which I love, I want my children to have that too. No matter what her career or other aspirations, I think a woman who can cook and keep her family healthy (not eating McDonald's every other day) is kind of sexy lol.
And I can feed myself. Don't know any haandees and I'm no serious cook but I can make rice, stir fry etc.

Re: Would you respect a girl.....
Respect/disrespect is more based on personal habits and traits.
Cooking is a skill that shouldn't be related to how much respect she gets. If I want a girl who needs to have cooking skills, then I simply won't marry the one who doesn't know how to cook. Disrespect in this case doesn't make any sense to me.
Re: Would you respect a girl.....
Well if they could not cook fro a certain reason then depending on that reason I would make my judgement.
I hate the Laadli palee types... theres no excuse for not knowing how to cook.
Sure if a girl lost her mother at a younger age then sure she has a reason of sorts maybe nobody was there to teach her...
But if she was just some rich ladlee palee who's parents treated her like some princess then I would have very little respect for her unless her other skills outwieghed this crucial lack.
It's like me having no arms!
