Would you like your child to be a Haafiz al-Qur'an?

Yes or No? Maybe? Or you dont care either way?

If you say yes, do you think you will really go through with putting him in classes to learn? Thanks.

Given the several ahaadeeth I have read/heard, I will prefer my child (if I will have any by the command of Allah:swt: ) to be a Haafiz/Haafiza Al Quran :insha:

Some thing that I could not do myself in a proper way… …

wow that would be amazing but to me personally understanding and following the Quran is alot more important..

its one of my wishes :) Allah taufeeq de...inshallah...but at the expense of school is not a good idea...i think hifz should be in parallel with normal classes...

Of the few Huffaaz I know, none of them has had their studies affected because having spent time memorizing The HOly Quran.
One important suggestion they give is to do it at a young age, preferably before 15 yrs of age. Not only do kids take lesser time memorizing it, they are also able to join in forward classes, without missing any time. Plus, the process of memorization alone sharpens your memory to an extent that conventional schooling comes easy to them.
I would do it, yes.

yes, i'd try my best to make him hafiz-e-Quran....
i recite to him different portions of the Quran from now so he can pick it up faster....

but i know a couple of my friends (close ones) who r hafiz but lost their way and its a surprise to see them even praying....
so i guess in such a case, i'd prefer a more practising muslim over a hafiz....

Sure everyone should hifz Qur'an and also learn everything else they can. There are no hudood on learning. Be all you can be.

Besides giving all the best education available, for sure I would like my children to be doing Hifz of Quran. Surely, I would want that they speak fluent Arabic, Urdu and English.

I had a chance to teach in a school which is for Huffaz (boys & girls) who Hifz Quran n now completing their school.

There were catagories of student normally over-age 1 or 2 years { not a big deal i would say; against reward of Hifz}

1) those who left school and devoted full 3 + - years to Hifz and now after completing r into full time school.

2) these were those who were sent to schools, where Hifz and normal schools where normal studies n hifz were parallel

I found # 1 to be much much better in learning n perfomance.

Hifz is a full time Job n it has to be taken seriously. Before sending child into it one must be sure that what parents want ?

deen ya dunya

HELL NO, NO,,NO,,,,
Why would one put his/her kid under a stress of memorising a book which will not be put in practice anyway. Kids should not be taught prejudice.

Kids should not be taught prejudice?

I agree with Tikhi here. I would want my children to understand what they are reading rather than focussing simply on memorizing it. If they then want to memorize it after understanding it, I will support them all the way.
