In case (God forbid) you get a serious life threatening illness, would you like to know?
Would you like an honest answer or would you like something that gives you hope even if its not true?

Re: Would you like to know?
honest answer, i don't fear death anyway, it won't change the way life goes on
waiting for death...or knowing when it should happen, that won't bother me..
in fact i think i would be relieved to know when it will finally end
Re: Would you like to know?
Of course I would like to know. Who doesn't. It gives us the opportunity to make amends for the things we've done in the past and to the people we have hurt.
Re: Would you like to know?
i absolutely completely agree with parissenoor....and i wouldn't LIKE to know but yes, i will want to know. We are all mortal and we have to die someday for one reason or another....death won't go away or stay away if we steer away from it..so, i would face it with courage and calm.

I already know :) I am still alive even years after being told that I will hardly make it for couple of weeks may be months (and each day brings a wide fresh smile to my face when I wakeup in the morning and find myslef breathing :D )
Re: Would you like to know?
I would want to know the plain truth....the honest answer.
Re: Would you like to know?
I have too many ppl depending on me, and too many people close nuff that I would want to make the most of every last minute that I have and would want to know the illness, the survival chances, timline etc etc.
I have been thru when docs gave us false hope, and then had to crash our hopes by being matter of fact. It would have been much better had they been upfront with us about everything from the begining, false hope is no hope, getting your hopes up and then having them come crashing down is a massive trauma.
Re: Would you like to know?
its so easy to say we d like to have honest answer etc but dealing with with it not that easy .
Re: Would you like to know?
Not sure how i will handle it.. i would like to know it so that i can prepare for it.. but i would definitely need some help to come in terms of the whole thing from my family and my wife ..
and first and foremost ask Allah(SWT) for forgiveness since HE is the one who can cure everything. So asking HIM and being strong with my faith is what i will try to do.. again easier said than done
Re: Would you like to know?
really? you have to deal with it one time or another, would dealing with it be easier when you realize that you dont have enough time to do anything that ou woud have done otherwise had you found earlier?
If i am going to die in 6 months, I want to know about it now to make the most of those 6 months, rather than finding out about it 5 months later..
Re: Would you like to know?
ofcourse!

I didnt say that dealing with it will be easy ..all i said was that it is not easy to deal with the honest answer ...but it easy to think that we d like to have honest answer .:o
Re: Would you like to know?
Unadulterated truth.
Re: Would you like to know?
Although its easy discussing it on net, in real life its quite difficult. Its not easy going up to a person and telling him that he is going to die and nothing is going to work.
Moreover, among Desi's (or Asians in general) its not just the patient, the whole family is involved and they take it upon themselves to decide everything for the patient.
Mostly Desi and Arab families would strongly oppose the idea of the news being broken to the patient. Also among Asians i have seen a lot of people who initially want to know the truth but later feel they wud have been better off not knowing it, and many of them will then blame the doctor for not being sensible.
Re: Would you like to know?
Right! Whether a doctor should always tell the truth to the patient is a different issue. I think a doc should do what's best for the patient.
Re: Would you like to know?
I disagree. It’s not easy to think or say that we’d like to have the honest answer. I think it takes guts to know.
I didn’t suggest that I would not break down after I found out. I probably would. I hate to think that I won’t be around to see my daughter grow up and experience life. I can’t imagine what I would do.
But I would still rather know and have the opportunity to do some planning, say some things and prepare.
Re: Would you like to know?
I would like to know...very logically and scientifically explained.....Its just I dont think I would react at alll...numbness...hmmm...I really think it would be very matter of fact...until it hits later on...
Re: Would you like to know?
its better to face it once , then to fear everyday :)
Re: Would you like to know?
**This is a Good Question for Saddam Hussein, How do you think He will answer it,,,:( **
**even though he does not have a terminal illness, but he has to know as soon as the trail is over his life is also over...:( **
Re: Would you like to know?
No. I want my death to be a surprise, just like everyone else.
