would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

i know in uk etc we dont do it ourselves, but in pak, at my inlaws they usually bring the animal around and do it in their back yard…so should i let my 2yr old witness this…i mean, its an islamic practise, not sure itl go down too well with everyone if i hid her away, but im wondering if it may be harmful fopr her to see this at such an age…or is it ok?

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

I would not show an animal being slaughtered to my 8 year old...let alone a 2 year old.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

I agree, but how to reason with everyone...im sure my husband will think its harmless too...

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

Keep her with you, tell them im giving her shower or she is getting ready.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

My little brother was 6 1/2 when he witnessed a Qurbani during a trip to Pakistan. And I think that was ok. But a 2 year-old? I don't think so.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

I watched qurbani when i was a child...and it did not harm me....

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

2yrz is very young age to see animal been slaughtered....
but 7,8 yrz is fine to see....you just have to educate them before watching....it doesnt harm i guess it makes you stronger...

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

If your kid is attached with the animal than surely it will affect him/her. In my family all kids sit inside listen to the story of why we celebrate this eid and how it is done, meanwhile out all the slaughter things are done no kid is allow to go not just because they will get bit scared but also there is no telling when the cow get lose and run.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

Some kids are more sensitive than others. I saw a qurbani once and only once. It was in somebodys back yard and I was returning from a friend's place and curiously joined a small group to watch what was going on. At 11, that was enough to make me into a vegetarian. Some kids may weather it better. Many of my muslim friends watched it too without issues but a couple of them did confide that it made them queasy. Having said that 2 is not the right age to expose your child to such a situation. Please wait till ur child is older.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

i saw it when i was a 10 yr old and refused to eat meat for the longest time.. i was shocked and very very sad.... i still cant watch it...ya its islamic but i feel so bad for the poor animal... so depending on your kid...

but a 2 yr old watching such a thing is sadistic... anyone that thinks its ok for a kid to witness such an event needs to be beaten with an old shoe.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

you will most likely be dealing with YEARS of trauma if you let your 2 year old watch an animal being slaughtered. its not painless or merciful in ANY way, so as others have suggested, please keep her indoors and in a situation where no one can come get her. give her a bath, change her clothes, go for a walk, whatever you need to do.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

I would not. I still haven't as an adult.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

I saw it when I was maybe 8 and was traumatized. I would never, in a million years, let my child witness the qurbani.
There is no reason for a child to see it.

Re: would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

I agree with what all others have said.
I do not want to see it even myslef even when I am a grown up.It gives me a very weird feeling and I am not subjecting my young kid to that.

These days I am even having issues with all the headless bloody corpses and things of the sorts they have displayed everywhere for Halloween..!...

would you let ur child watch the qurbani on eid.

My brother was 22months wen we went pak to bury our dad (may Allah bless him with Jannat inshallah ameen) and qurbani was a few days later.! He cried and cried becuase him and my cousin spent ages decorating the cow and goats with tinsles etc lol and didnt understand why they were being 'cut' and bleeding and came running in! I mean i was 17 and i found it quite urgh to watch but i still think 2 is young i kept my brother busy rest of the time to stop him going back out!
