Would you keep a gun a home?

Re: Would you keep a gun a home?

If you dont mind me asking I gather from the way your talking about the matter… your considering a gun perhaps as a defence measure or even a detterent.

Well I would like to help you along with the defence of ones home comprises more than the obvious. Location, type of access to property, type of nieghbourhood. All are factors that determine the sort of defence system to have in place for Allah na karien an emergency. It’s not about being Paranoid it’s just very basic security and survival considerations.

These can also influence the type of weapon you choose… for example if your in a Flat or Urban shared accomadation, hotel or anything where the area you occupy is in close proximity to others… having an Assualt rifle for example is a crazy idea. The shots from a 7.62mm or 5.56mm standard cartridge will punch through several walls and even hit targets beyond what you were aiming at… automatic weapons are also regretably very easy to use and a teenager could easily wreak havock with one even a child Allah na karien.

However take a Smith Wesson .44 or .45 revolver then the chance of hitting long range targets is less likely as is the likelihood that it will be so easy for a youngster to wield effectively… this does depend on various factors but the stopping power of even a simple revolver is more than adequate to put most attackers out.

On the subject of Tasers thats a very interesting alternative however they are very unpredictable and currently in the UK theres a big debate over allowing front line Police Officers to carry them. You see sometimes Tasers are too powerfull or they are too weak against some targets. A stun gun is a very effective defence weapon but it’s limited range is a problem.

However not everything is decided by armed encounter… even simple planning, alarms, evasion routes and other saftey procedures in the home are just as important as the last resort. Never think of the Gun or any other Weapon as first resort or as the sole means of your defence.

Even men with guns have been beaten to pulp by attackers that sneeked in through an open window.
