Re: Would you help?
Do you help people who might be in random situations? Here are a few examples of situations:
**1- Stranger asking for some money to buy a bus ticket, claiming they are in an emergency? **
Absolutely, sharing is caring and if someone is in an emergency, I will go out of my way to do everything I can. As long as they don’t look dodgy, or seem like they’re about to do something shady.
**2- You see a person harassing or attacking another person in a public place? **
I’ll verbally try to calm the situation and tell the person to not harass the person, if they go to the next level, I would rather take a step back and call the police - unless extreme intervention is needed, in case of situations like stabbing etc, where someone’s life is in danger. If by attacking you mean verbally - as in it is a discriminatory or racist attack, then I’ll verbally attack the person back/try to defuse the situation and help the victim.
3- You witness a terrible car accident on a busy road, would you help the people involved?
I’ll call the ambulance, but I won’t get personally involved. First response teams are proper suited to handle injured people in an accident. Normal citizens, most of them, aren’t trained to do CPR, or handle the victim(s) properly, they can do more harm than good in the process. People might not know how to handle the injured neck for instance, and can cause more damage to the spine etc. Plus if it is a busy road, then stopping on the hard shoulder is a bad idea, or even on the road. It stops traffic, causes hindrance, and causes delays for the ambulance etc to reach the accident site. If I am on foot, on that busy road or street, I’ll again make sure that emergency teams are on their way, but apart from that there is nothing else I can do. Plus in Dubai it is banned to stop and help, or photograph that site, for the same reasons I typed.

4- You witness a druggy or a drunk man lying faint on the roadside? **
I will help the person, if they’ve just fainted, I’ll give them water and some money. If they’re seriously unconscious, or fell and suffered a concussion, I’ll call help.
