String, you should have verified the information before creating the thread. She actually was wearing makeup. She opted for a more natural look or what is called the ‘no-makeup’ look and the irony is that this particular look can entail many products to create.
No, I am not that bold as to go barefaced on my wedding day. But I would tell the makeup artist to keep it looking more natural. I don’t like a dramatic or heavy/caked look. Not the kind to wear colored lens either.
i wasn’t aware but i think she wasn’t wearing make up, looked natural. Call it whatever but it’d be cool to know if more.brown girls would consider going the Meghan Markle way? Lol
^Stringy, clothes and jewelry are also taken into account when doing makeup. There’s not much variety in terms of color when it comes to western bridal dresses; they are all some version of white (off-white, ivory-white, etc etc) and they tend to be more simple in their design. With a white dress, simpler makeup and jewelry tends to look more aesthetically pleasing.
With a Desi bride, a bare-faced look would look kinda off-kilter when set against the heavy jewelry and colorful, elaborate clothes. A bit more color would be needed on the face to make the whole look appear more even and for it all to come together. Then there’s the lighting to consider as well when you’re sitting on the stage. With heavy lighting, you need a little more makeup. Don’t worry though. On your big day, your mind would be too preoccupied with all the myriad of tasks that go into making a wedding and getting it all over and done with…that you won’t be too bothered by how many coats of foundation Mrs. String is wearing, or how many layers of mascara are on her falsies, why her nose looks more chiseled than her stiletto heel, or why she’s glowing more than a disco ball.
First like red said, she was not even close to be being bare faced, the makeup was done to look natural. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s royal protocol to keep your makeup simple. Princess Diana, Kate Middleton, all had natural makeup on their wedding day so not sure why this time around it is being considered revolutionary. Second, heck no. I keep it simple everyday, even if I am attending weddings or parties, so at my own wedding, I would go all out with makeup. However, my definition of all out could be someone else’s everyday look so can’t say.
Every girl/bride-to-be I read about talks about going minimal, with a natural look. The where the heck do these caked up brides come from?
Maybe Markle’s look is considered revolutionary because it goes against the current trend of makeup where there’s so much contouring and highlighting and defining. Also, her dress was more simple compared to the former royal brides.
String, you’d be hard pressed to find a Brown girl that is gutsy enough to go bare-faced on her own wedding day. A far more interesting question is how many Brown girls can attend a funeral with a bare face. It’s a morbid question, I know. But I’ve never understood the need to apply makeup in such a situation.
to be distinct from the mourning family…may be..
Damn
these girls look natural and fine
I suppose this is why you created that corny “herp derp is makeup deception thread.” Anyways, Markle probably went for this type of look since it is a timeless look compared to the contouring spider lash mess that will be dated in the upcoming years. Since I prefer to not look like a circus attraction I would probably opt for more of a natural look or makeup with muted colors.
I don’t think you can pull it. Not everybody is meghan merkle.

Stringy, what makes you think you are an authority on fashion and beauty? You clearly know nothing about makeup and probably drool over any woman with a pulse.
If she was bare faced and not wearing makeup her skin would likely not be looking that flawless and even..
Not wearing makeup for many if not most women = under eye shadows, slightly uneven skintone, odd spot here and there..
Google how most celebrities look without makeup, even supermodels..
She simply had natural bridal makeup.. She looked lovely Imo
I really liked her makeup and personally prefer lighter make-up and overall a more simple/elegant look. Would do the same in the future.
But even this “no make-up” look costed her about $13, 000 USD.
i have standards too. I swipe left on 90% of girls irl.
She was wearing super natural makeup, and it is is true, due to royal protocol she isn’t allowed to wear heavy makeup - ever.
Personally, I like her make in Suits - it was natural but a little more refined.
I use to think I wanted the typical caked desi look, but as I am getting older I prefer the looks aqua70 shared.
It’s hilarious that guys think they can distinguish between makeup vs no makeup. They’d take a woman wearing 2 pounds of foundation plus light lip color as the “no makeup” look.
