Would you fly?

EU transport ministers will hold emergency talks by video conference on easing the current air travel crisis. Should restrictions be lifted?

Airports and airlines have questioned the need for restrictions said to be costing airlines $200m (£130m) a day.

Giovanni Bisignani, the head of the airline industry body, the International Air Transport Association said that the no fly decision made by Europe was done “with no risk assessment, no consultation, no co-ordination, no leadership.”

However, a Met Office plane encountered dangerous levels of ash when it went through the ash cloud on Sunday. And air traffic control body Nats is continuing to monitor developments but says that conditions around the movement of layers of volcanic ash remain “dynamic”.

What do you think of the response to the crisis by the government and the airline industry? Are you stranded because of the airspace restrictions? Do you work in the travel industry? What is the best way to tackle the crisis?
