For me I can see both sides. I find it easy to understand why artists would not be happy having their work ‘‘sold’’, essentially, for free via social media. But saying that to an extent modern day Music mostly thrives on publicity. Look at Gangam style, I am sure most people decided to listen to it because that’s what everyone else was doing. This gave the artist massive publicity and he has now gone on to hold huge concerts thus earning big money. Now had everyone been required to pay money to listen to his song originally not many would have done it and he would not have even earned 10% of what he earns now. This applies to most artists so I find it odd too when they moan!
