The above dress is by Elan and for 12 lakhs. I am personally very underwhelmed by this brand. If you visit her store and see all her bridal outfits up close, the embroidery is not neat or fine and lacks in finishing. Additionally the staff can be super pompous and rude.
but anyways would you ever pay such a large amount of money for this type of an outfit? let’s say you had 12 lakhs to spare on a bridal, would you get this?
why waste 12 lakh on this dress when you can buy a brand new car worth 12lakh .
But i have seen ppl paying lakhsss for such kinda dresses but whats the point? its a bloody waste of money.
I wouldn't even if I had that kind of money splash. The whole thing is very underwhelming ans it'd probably make me look washed out (just like the model).
The kaam is nothing interesting and you can find similar colour schemes in lawn and chiffon suits, so why spend 12 lakhs?
There are a handful of people who can afford to pay that amount and 12 lakhs is pocket change for them. Expensive designers probably thrive on such people.
I wouldn’t pay above about 2 lakhs for my wedding lehnga. I am gonna wear it for a few hours and then store it away. I’m gona get lots of small gold earrings, bracelets and such to wear everyday. :halo:At least it’ll be worth it.
But yeah there are people for whom 12 lakh is nothing or there are others who really care about showing off. Wearing a 12 lakhs lehnga does create a hype and make everyone awe at the bride and the family
Never. Instead I would get some closer pics (if I really liked it) and get it done by some privately hired Embroidery Worker.. who would, I bet you, cost me for it within one lac or even 50,000 PKR!!
Agree with all the comments above. It doesn't look worth more than say 3 lakhs (tops). It lacks the wow factor that any half decent designer can bring to a dress.
IF I had 12 lakhs to spare on a wedding dress (say my crazy great aunt bequeathed that amount to me on the condition that i only spend it on my brial outfit), I'd do a timeless dress with very rich fabrics, tops notch embroidery that would be representative of some classic style (either by some period like mughal or some geography such as sind, balochistan) and done with kaarigars who specialize in that type of handicraft. and it would certainly have precious stones somewhere.
Even when international designers do a very expensive wedding gown, they have elements that make the outfit worth it's price tag. for example grace kelley's iconic dress had custom designed and hand created lace and was entrusted with pearls (so was princess di's).
This rip-off by Elan has fabric from a lace fabric market in lahore (i believe it's close to raja center), where my khala has frequently seen khadija shah buy thaans after thaans of lace fabric. Similarly sequins and beading is standard run-off the mill you can see at any liberty udda. This is a complete and utter rip-off!
