If your child, after geting mature, aims for religious scholar ?
IF so, how would you guide him & make sure he remains in safe hands ?
If not, how would you convince him ?

By safe hands I mean the scholars whom you trust that they would groom him well, in terms of religious education

oh.....
well i know this person who went off to uni to do islamic degree and came back as a tubleegi jamat......we were all v offended and its caused problems in his family....etc...etc.....he wont change for anything and all his uncles r against him.....
now that wud be difficult as there can be a fine line btw believing in the wrong faith.....
all i wud suggest is tell him/her the truth about the right and the wrong path and leave it to him for him to find his own right path all we can do as parents is make dua for him.....
Re: Would you encourage....?
I would let him/her go ahead and study Islam but I'd also make them study secular education.
A lot of Mullah's are completely ignorant about what goes on in the world because they lack a secular education, they end up presenting the wrong image of Islam and can't really answer questions because they're ill-prepared for todays world, they can't relate/intrepret some verses/narrations because they don't under stand their scientific meanings and end up intrepreting them wrong making Islam look daft, they can barely string a three word sentence together let alone debate and invite people to Islam.
A lot of them start their own Mosques as a business because they've not learnt any other way of earning a living.
Re: Would you encourage....?
I would ensure that he studied in a reputable and well-known Islamic University, and not just send him off to Pakistan, or any other country, for that matter. I would also encourage him to double major, so that he has enough of a background in another subject that finding a job will not be an issue.

i know of two incidents first hand where normal hastay boltay kids went to get islamic education.. to not some uni but just mosque and hifz.. and started going there for hifz and no regular schooling.. after two yrs.. those young kids were arrogant.. harsh .. many a times rude to the elders for not doing what they were taught must b a pratice.
it just made my heart sour abt these islamic educational institutes..
i wish there were more tolerable islamic schools and more easy going and humanistic teachings there rather than .. u r gonna burn in hell answer approach ..
Re: Would you encourage....?
An educated scholar, blessed with wisdom of exploring light of character from within the child to accept the responsibilities demanded by family, nation and humnaity without violating religious rules and principles.
Once his words & actions spark the fire of imaan in the child, (with the grace and blessings of Allah) no force in the world could detrack him from sincere & selfless search for truth, to differenciate between good and bad.
The fire of Imaan comes with description of qualities of Allah (swt) and life of the Prophet (saw) so that he may always think "Allah is watching him" and the Prophet (saw) is someone to relate to /take guidence from, before he takes any step in life.
