I know what i was said.

And I hate to break it to you. But i can control who my sister marries.

A guardian has the control of his daughter or sister.
A wise family will take the opinion of each family member into account before deciding on a marriage.

She may reject anyone we may happen to choose, but she would also not marry anyone without our consent.

this is how it works in our family as well.

we girls have been given all freedom to refuse rishtas but we will not ever marry anyone if he parents are against. and neither my parents will let us marry if they are not 100% satisfied with our choices for x y and z reasons.

so i also beleive the guardian do have a control on who the daughters/sons marry.
