If your family, relatives, and neighbors have called you one name all your life, but on legal papers and to your friends you are known by another name, would you change your name to what your family has called you all your life? Or would you leave it alone?

im going through that whole process now, its v. annoying and pissy. For the love of standardisation mind you, not for family or any such emotional likes.

My family, relatives and close friends call me Umer. However my actual name in the papers is Ahmer, but I never bothered to get that changed.

Very few people know my first name, & since I joined this new company everyone is calling me with my first name & I usually I am not paying attention to them when they call me since I am not used to it. Even my wife doesn't call me from my first name. Yet I wont change it.
