Sara - This thread, and some replies including yours, reminded me of something that really relevant here:

To abandon a friend on the basis of our judgment of their character is a bit self-righteous and possibly selfish and in some cases cowardly - in my opinion. I will not abandon a friend unless what he has done or what he is doing will jeopardize my faith (or my life), and there is absolutely nothing I can do to change that.
