They don’t real drink alcohol in movies. I’m pretty sure of that, as it would mess up their acting. Not all actresses do nude scenes either, they put it in their contracts. But apart from that, yes Hollywood is pretty cut throat and stuff. Maybe lollywood would be a better place na.
What I meant was that even if it’s grape juice swirling around in the long stemmed glass.. it sends the image that drinking is all “coo.” It’s not just about what you do, it’s also about the image/impression/messages you’re sending. It’s not just complete nudity. I don’t care for partial nudity or baring of shoulders or legs either. Sure, you can put whatever you want in that contract and maybe things’ll be easier if you’re acting for Pakistani dramas which still maintain some decency…but in the West sex among other vices sells and if one wants to make it big, they may have to loosen up on their contract conditions and moral values. And Lollywood (even the name sounds ridiculous) has got its share of shadiness too.
Sure, the possibility of my kid becoming an a-list hollywood actor would be unlikely but if he wants to do local/national plays and such. Vat’s the big deal, as long as he has a plan b-- acting would be much like freelancing I would think, must make sure there’s some stability.
I would let him/her keep it as a hobby, maybe act in some theatres rather than movies or series, or if, maybe only as a guest appearance. I would talk to them about all the dangers and advise them strictly against it, tell them the moral issues and what red velvet mentioned here already. I wouldn’t want my kid to “sell his/her soul”. It doesn’t really matter what you put in the contract, they will find their way to put pressure on you. After all, it’s your dream to become an actor, and their dream to make a sh*t loads of money off of you, so it won’t be too hard for them to manipulate you the way they want to. But yeah, that’s hollywood. But since other movie industries want to “keep up with it” they probably will use similar methods as well… It’s a shady business, so no, I wouldn’t let my kid get into that business. But I would make sure he/she can still keep the passion and express it, even if its just for a very small group of people.
Hmm..thing is how many people go into theatre or plays? It seems the majority want to venture into the woods (Holly, Bolly, and Lolly) and you have to watch out for the wolves that lurk there.
exactly. that’s why I said, keep it as a hobby, even if you can only express your passion (play) for a small group of people. but I mean, if you have the passion for acting you don’t care how many people actually see it. If you care, then you have a passion for fame, not acting…
Yeah, it’s kind of a challenge. Since it’s in our minds that being good in something automatically (should) make you famous and you feel the need to show the world your talent(s). But once you think about what fame does to you, your family and your life generally, you probably don’t want to become famous anymore lol.
If you venture into th woods, you get taken to the woodshed.
Old jungle saying.

Nope. As most people have indicated, the fame is closely tied to the profession and has a very ugly side to it. I would not want my kid to grow up to be someone who enjoys that. Very few actors are passionate to the point of doing plays with no glamour whatsoever.
I wouldn’t want them to go into acting but if that’s what they really want I won’t stop them. It’s their life. My kids will be mad scientists, future Einsteins.
I JUST WANT THEM TO BE SUPER NERDS. inshALlah…but in a good way…one engineer, one physicist, one medical doctor, wait wait im not having that many kids…hm.
btw, theater is really good. like performing arts n all…not necessarily hollywood.
