Would Kayani want army out of politics...?

Re: Kayani wants army out of politics

I will believe it if Kayanni says it himself. Until then I see him as an extension of Mushy. i.e. worthless, a crook and a 2 bit tyrant trying to lord over defenceless people.
There was a time when the Pak army ment something, it was an institution to respect.
Now I have nothing but disdain for them, they are a bunch of elitist, greedy, selfish peons following the man destroying our nation.

Re: Kayani wants army out of politics

One should realise that there can be no change of face in Pakistan (I mean against Musharraf) due to military action. Only change would come, when President Musharraf would like that to happen. I think that it is impossible for Kayani to coup against Musharraf.

When a coup happens than army chief takes a risk, and that risk is that people under him obey and accept his coup, else army chief not only get deposed but can get court martial and can go to military jail. Now you think yourself that if Kiyani would coup, he would be trying to rely for loyalty from officers, most are promoted to their post by Musharraf. I think that Kiyani could never even think of taking such risk, and even if he would, it can be anyone's guess where he would end. To think about any coup against Musharraf, here is two lines from above article:
Musharraf has nominated all the army's top brass down to the two-star generals, analysts said. He is related to two of the highest ranking generals through marriage.
Well, fact is that Musharraf gave promotion to all officers even below major generals. I believe that Kiyani must be Colonel or newly appointed Brigadier when Musharraf became army chief, and it is Musharraf that gave him all promotions to what he is today. Character of Kiyani is different than Musharraf. Musharraf is very friendly, flamboyant, impressive, talkative and active person, who make friends with his juniors as well as peers easily (and that is the reason, army was behind him in 1999 and made a coup against NS and 'NS new appointed Chief of army' on behalf of Musharraf). As for Kiyani, he is a quite and reserved person.

So you can guess how much close Kiyani must have got to other officers, most of who (including Kiyani) were promoted by Musharraf, and thus it is anyone's guess that if Kiyani would coup against Musharraf, how many would side with Kiyani?

I think that whatever would happen, Musharraf keeps the uniform or shed the uniform, Musharraf would always going to stay in control of the army more than any chief, and no army chief could do anything about that. To me, day dreaming by some about coup is an illusive dream, that is bad for mental health :).

Re: Kayani wants army out of politics

I have never said that I support coup even against Mushrraf. In fact what I said was we need to get over the curse of coups. My view have been consistent even when Mushrraf’s approval ratings were 70%. This what I wrote 5 years ago.

I think you missed what I wrote on the top.

Maybe he can do something good for the country by taking army out of the politics.

Re: Kayani wants army out of politics

nyah I did not miss it.

"Maybe" is not concrete enough for me.
