it's advised not to put it in places where it shows disrespect. afterall that's the only book which is from Allah which is kept in perfect condition. :)

there should be nothing placed above the Quran.
its teh word of Allah, and it deserves respect.
People in the middle east, put it under their feet saying "its just a book".
Its a book of great importance.
Even another book cannot be placed over it when its on a shelf.

You can not be disrespectful to Quran unless you want to 
In Pakistan you can be hanged till death if you accidentally drop the holy book on the floor but their will be Silence of the Lamb if you marry a girl with the same holy quran in presence of a whole comunity.

How about reciting some surahs(you will actually get ajar for this) instead of putting the Quran under your pillow and risk disrespecting it.

They even put it on the shelves where you place ur sandals, and when you ask them to elevate it.
They say, "its only a book brother, don't worry about it, focus on ur deen".
Lahola wala quwat. Unkilon ke abba jan is correct, i also witnessed this in medina-e-muwarra.

It is better to keep it on some place higher than your bed, like a bookshelf or a table. Also, it is forbidden to use the Quran as a pillow or in your case placed under it.

i dont know about putting it under one's feet but i've heard from ppl that during hajj/umrah ppl place the Quran on the floor next to them...
is this considered disrespectful as well?
