i no it may sound stupid but my Family in uk think tht its not good to wear black.(thus we dont). its not been a tridition my family but is practised in the family of my Grand fathers brothers wife( Dadi ama) this in my family in uk aswell.
So is it true but i think the Kabah has black cover aswell so it sholdent b a bad luck an d nor did Holy Prophet PBUH said any thing about black
So it doesnt matter if we wear black ( i wear black in school uniform havent roken my leg yet)
I remember having such a debate with someone. He kept on saying that black wasn't allowed etc, so in the end -which made him totally silent- I asked him why his beard was black....the rest is history
Actually superstitions are alot of Bull, unless of course you are an idiot, in which case they make perfect sense and you sit indoors on Friday the 13th whilst I throw eggs at your door.

Shias wear black on 10th moharram, as sign of "mourning". Perhaps its that "sign of mourning" which puts "some" restriction". Its not "forbidden" to wear black, just that you don't want to wear "mourning-like" dress in regular days. I hope it made some sense.
And the black Burka, a sign of a woman in mourning. A subliminal way to express the ridicule they must feel in an Islamic society. More power to women with balls to shred that degrading black piece of filth. Amen.

I guess moderators have problem me pointing out your love for women with balls. Anyway, so you think when Christian men/women wear that black dress on funerals they opt to degrade themselves?
I don't think wearing or not wearing black is anything to do with religion. Its probably more a cultural thing. In Pakistan, for example, black is a dress for mourning, like in India, white is the dress for mourning. Its just the same as why brides in the west wear white gowns and brides in Pakistan wear red dresses. Its all cultural, and historically may have some significance.
With changing times, new generation is less and less bound by these traditions. Young men and women in Karachi and Lahore, frequently don stylish balck dresses and go around. Brides are wearing all kinds of colors in addition to the traditional red. Times are changing, and so does cultural trends.
Changez, I see it as an oppressing piece of attire. Only because it was mandated by clerical mullahs of Iran after the so-called revolution. Most Iranian women detest such a treatment, and underneath that all they wear colorful dresses. (Same is the case in Saudi Arabia, where it is a law for women to wear Black Abaya when they are outside - have you ever seen a Blue Abaya or a Pink one??) So it is not about the color "black", but the idea of it being imposed by men. They can wear whatever they want, but to make it somehow mandatory for them is oppression in my eyes, and you may feel otherwise.
Actually in India it depends what your cultural and religious norms are. Hiuds wear white, but muslims wear black, so do the Christians, but parsis wear white and grey, the jews wear white and black. Buddhists wear orange. India is not based on a single religion.
