worth of being a Karachiite = worthless

Don’t know if you are going to agree. I do

Re: worth of being a Karachiite = worthless

Full of bull****, phony figures, mqm propaganda that has been discussed ample times here.

Lol. Which figures are made up? Number of seats of Karachi, or number of people living in Karachi?

Re: worth of being a Karachiite = worthless

I didn’t find anything new and figures quoted in statistics seems wrong. If LaRkana got 6 PA seats, that would not be limited to LaRkana city.. It might be for all rural and urban areas and I don’t think that just LaRkana city got 270,000 population.

Larkana District - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

According to the 1998 census of Pakistan, it had a population of 1,927,066 of which 28.70% were urban.[SUP][1]](Larkana District - Wikipedia)[/SUP] Its main city is Larkana.

6 PS (which are actua;lly 5 as per official sources) seats include areas of Shikarpur and Qambar Shahdadkot

Re: worth of being a Karachiite = worthless

I don't know much about the quota system but the "analysis" of population per legislative assembly seat is BS.

Firstly, Karachi hosts a lot of migrants from all over the country who have registered their votes in their 'home' constituencies.

Secondly, the 'analysis' does not take into account the reserved seats going to Karachi which makes the maths for "Karachi should get xxx seats" bad.

Thirdly, the population figures for different cities are taken from different sources which makes the 'analysis' inconsistent. For example, Gujranwala population is for Gujranwala city only but the number of seats includes rural areas around Gujranwala.

Fourthly, the 'difference' in "population per seat" between Karachi and Lahore is not really significant to call Karachi's worth = "worthless".

Fifthly, It is very much common in almost all countries that densely populated areas do not get representation in legislative in exact proportion to their population. Otherwise less densely populated areas would get negligible representation.
