worshiping false heroes

i think this is the trouble with the indian cricket analyst and the indian cricket public .they have been worshiping false heroes with the exeption of “sachin tendulkar” all the other players are mediocre set who are just average players there are many other indian cricketers who are playing at club level and are as good as the national side .
the india cricket team has never performed out side india with the exeption of 1983 world cup which many critics still call fluke
indian cricketers are worshipped in india and nobody can take their place as far as popularity is concerned but iam afraid we have been worshiping false gods
india got a sound thrashing at the hands of south africa .india lost a oneday to kenya
india lost a test match to zimbabawe .
all india has managed to do is win home series and that too against mediocre teams like england . any team winning at home in india conditions in turning wickets in indian heat is no big deal . now india has won a single test match and people have forgotten the indian teams humiliation abroad and its loses to kenya and zimbabwe
look at kumble he is just a average bowler if you look at his record abroad he does not deserve to even be a 12 man
he will do good in the home series without doubt and qualify for all the future matches abroad where he is not going to perform and lead india to more humiliations
i love the indian cricket team as an indian but as long as we dont stop worshiping false heroes i see no hope for the future of indian cricket

correct.

India's problem is that they elevate their players to greatness far too quickly. Examples are mediocre players like Harbhajan, Dravid and the Singh guy who did well on his debut vs. Australia (I forget his name).

By performing against lowly England, any spinner can flatter himself. Case in point is Warne who is a spent force but was able to break England's back pretty easily. Harbhajan is not is the same league as Murli and Saqlain. Not that he's not a good bowler but to call him the best off-spinner in the world is an overstatement.

Same is the case with Dravid. Pitch him against a Wasim or a Waqar and Dravid will go in his shell never to come out. Two ODIs come to mind from C&U series, where Wasim had him groping for the ball like a blind man. It was just funny how he was all the deliveries the wrong way 'cause he couldn't pick them out. I think the worst performance from a top order batsman in an ODI came when Dravid couldn't score 30-odd runs in 5 overs vs. Sri Lanka recently. He batted out the overs with a couple of wickets in hand. I remember my Indian buddy being so disgusted. I mean that was just pathetic for someone revered as highly as Dravid.

well i guess, its with the asian team, they cant play on fast pitches, and tehrefore dont have a good record in away series, i guess only SL has able to somewht capatilize!!!
