World's best religion

Re: World's best religion

Thanks very much for your post, I enjoyed reading it :biggthumb

Re: World's best religion

Good post.

I think what you described as if your life and your heart was in trouble for whatever reason and you got satisfaction from a 'philosophy'.

If I am correct in my assesment then may I ask what exactly is that 'philosophy' which gave a strong impact on your thinking?

Did you read just this philosophy or any other out there?

Re: World's best religion

"Heart was in trouble".....i will just put it as "unhappy".

i would say "initially, ray of hope and later satisfaction or whatever".

which philosophy?.....bhagavad geetha and mahabharata. It could also be by other saints. But i only became interested in saints, at a even very later stage. Vedas never read. But someday i would like to.

Re: World's best religion

Its Ok if you don't want to talk about second question but thanks for clarifying my assesment.

Re: World's best religion

World's religions are divided into two major classes.

1- Monotheism based
2- Polytheism based
3- Mixed (sort of confusing for many)
4-Unknown/undetermined.

Pure Christianity and Judaism belong to group 1 along with islam. Current day christianity as per islamic view is no longer monotheistic.

Others in general belong to group 2.]

Spirituality is common among alomost all of major religions.
Doing 'good' to please super power is common to amost all.

Meaning of 'good' deed is different however when it comes to pleasing super power but doing 'good' to please others including animals is similar in almost all 'religions'.

Its not surprising that when someone is not 'happy' the person will find anything spiritually related soothing regardless of its source. Not that spirituality does not get the credit by itself.

Its just hard to have a 'religion' without spirituality...meaning connecting to something unseen or 'percepting' something above and beyond one's five senses.

vision
hearing
smell
touch
and taste

This is like agreeing upon the weakness of human being which relies on these five senses to be able to accept or refute existence of something.
(e.g. scientific experiments to prove something)

Now this could set the stage or model which guppies (if they like) can use as scaffold to wrap their thoughts upon to explain why they find a particular religion best.

Re: World's best religion

Saddiyah, you brought me back to this thread.... Please change the thread topic
"Analysis of Various Religions"........ :-)

Re: World's best religion

Not surprising for many, I think Islam is the best religion among many good religions available these days.

It is based on monotheism. It has spirituality combines with obligation to seek knowledge of many affairs including art, science and space etc.

It puts humanity in many ways 'ahead' of worshiping to supreme power.
As islam preeches, if a person breaks the rule to hurt an innocent fellow human being, that person cannot get the mercy from supreme being unless the person is forgiven by the fellow being.

It gives freedom to its followers to be responsible of their own deeds while in privacy where no one but the supreme power would be the only observant.

The spread of this religion in its early days covering a large portion of the world in a short time couldn't have been possible unless people were ready to accept the charming message of equality, justice and harmony among mankind preeched by this religion.

Re: World’s best religion

This thread is so funny…

<< Debatable, show me place where it spread without Muslims ruling the place or migrating from other places. With this message Buddhism spread with not ruling the places it went to.. >>

With above you proved only one thing… all the Dads (oops religion) are best..
If above is Islam as per you, you proved - all relgion have more or less same message. So all the best… :snooty:
But for me my dad is best…

Re: World's best religion

I will have to say the best religion is Islam but its a shame that we muslim ummah do not appreciate this by doing wrong actions for own pleasure & instead placing the religion Islam in the name & shame point!!

Re: World's best religion

disagree with that bro.
human beings never accept new messages or concepts by taking the risk of questioning the prevelant social, religious and political order. the only way human beings accept a new concept that goes against the prevelant order is if that concept happens to gain political power.
this has been true right from 2000 BC till 2000 AD and most likely for as long as there be existence on the planet .doesnt matter how "charming" that message be.

Re: World's best religion

Islam is not only a faith, it offers complete code of life too
so it is different from other religions which are based on only faith with a few descriptions on how to lead life...
i would say that Islam is a complete religion , no other religion offers codes of life as Islam does.

Islam is the best religion but muslims are the worst followers
by Bernard Shaw

Re: World's best religion

Blueberry bibijee you expect that mawwali Bernard Shaw to teach us Islam?

Re: World's best religion

wat makes bernard shaw mawwali?
r u gonna shut ur eyes and ears to everything said by someone of another faith. if u've read any of bernard shaws writings, u wudnt type the baloney that u just did.

Re: World's best religion

1- Indinesia I think now is the largest of muslim country. No muslim army went there to rule to 'convert' people in that part of the world.

2- Those who actually came to rule muslims and destroyed the city of Bughdad with killing of countless people making a hill of skulls actually not only accepted
islam but spread it over the parts of the world.

3- People were never forced to accept and areas which were ruled by muslims were won by fighting against the armies of the rulers not liked by the their own citizens.

4- Plain simple force can never convert majority people one way or other.

Re: World's best religion

Please read post # 35.

An aggressor accepting the religion of the oppressed people and acting even better than the oppressed people's religion is an example for you to ponder.

Re: World's best religion

Before specifying 'The best religion' of the world, I believe it is essential to know what sense of the term is to be defined. In this case, it is important because there are a number of widely different senses of the word 'Best'. I think you define 'best' as what brings harmony to you and your life. What gives you that satisfaction, calm and still. Everyone has their own choice and beliefs that they are comfortable with....so, its like asking 'What is your fav. drink'? Pepsi, coke or other.

If one has a belief, you have questions. Questions about your faith and others. If, for example, someone believes in one God, he/she believes God to be all powerfull, all knowing and supermely good. One could argue whether how can someone or something be so powerfull, knowing and good at the same time?

Similarly, in case of more than one God, whether you believe in all or one of them, you are in a way playing 'Mine is better than yours' card. Or, if one says 'God is world and the world is God', we can argue God is even more than that. This arguing shouldn't be use so that we can 'judge' rather than 'learn' about ourselves, family, life and how to live it.

Re: World's best religion

very nice

Re: World's best religion

:D

:D So you really wanna prove that your Dad is best..
Ok, I said migration and ruling......
Another thing, please do and please understand difference between rule and exception in life......:D

I see with great humor this thread turning into a religion vs religion thread, which was original purpose of this thread and mods jumping in and saying don't abuse......... others............

Re: World’s best religion

This is one of the most important point. I am very much interested realising the “Paramatma”. Many of my questions get answered by Shankara’s Writing and teaching. It also shows me a path which needs to be followed by myself to attain ‘Moksha’ or Salvation.

Some of my questions are:

  1. How can I actually visualize or feel God? We know that scriptures tell us that as humans we do not have the physical capability to see God or feel God, and God is in nth dimension (We cannot see anything beyond the third dimension).

  2. What is the ultimate Truth?

  3. How can one realise the Truth?

  4. Life after Death?

  5. Where does Karma or Action fit into the human Cycle?

  6. How much does “Gnana” or Knowledge contribute for realisation?

  7. What is the role of “Bhakti” (there is no equivalent word for Bhakti in English).

Re: World’s best religion

:smack:

it is just a quote and his point of view ( a person who himself is not a muslim admits that islam is the best religion) , ir doesnt mean that he is the person we can refer to, to teach us islam
