Dutch lost it somehow in the second half. They looked liek scoring till it got really ugly. Well Portuguese dirty tactics worked, it riled dutchies alright

First competitive defeat for Van Basten and Flipe scolari is still unbeaten in worldcup matches. What a manager is he!!!!! He is full of passion for the game.

It was entertaining but sad at the same time. Too bad Holland didn’t win. I think Pearsie is the man of the match even though he wasn’t able to score. :frowning:

Definitely a record was broken today of yellow/red cards. Sad, sad, sad.

I think Portugal played really nasty in this match. I’m quite disappointed in them.

A total of 20 cards is a new record. Heard on BBC that the total number of fouls were 25 and 20 cards shown. :eek:

I am not impressed by portuguese dirty tactics either but in the end, dutch have only themselves to blame for the defeat. They had like 20 shots on goal.

ref lost control of the gme, but players lost their heads. early on the ref could have set the tone but later with the circus going on the field, i dunno what he could have done except book em nd send em

Andthe funny thing is that all of them were justified!

The winner is the referee: Ivanov

(in the end, I think that Portugal were rightful winner: Holland played like England basically: too many long balls)

i think the problem started with ronaldo's injury. the portuguese thought the dutch did it intentionaly. the ref shares the blame for his bookings so early on. i mean give a warning or two, try to settle things down but this idiot was yanking cards like no tommorow. well england lucked out i guess

Very true. They had all these chances and just couldn't score. It's a shame.

Also, Holland didn't bring in their star player. WHY??

Although Portgual won this match, real winners are England. Lookign at the Figo head butt video, he could be out of the tournament as well.
