is there any good challange to australia apart from bangladesh for the next world cup. they have beaten SA, pak can’t win unless their bowler take a good form. With India you can never be sure about what they will do. England not good enough. it seems like ponting will prevail again

Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
Bangladesh can challenge Australia:D
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
lol @ Captain's wittiness :D
I think serious challengers are SAffies, India, Pakistan and England in that order.
Why England? Once they have all their main guns firing, it will be an equally balanced ODI team. Freddie, Pietersen, Collingwood, Trescothic, S. Jones, Harmison and Hoggard are very thrilling cricketers.
Pakistan needs Malik, Inzi, Akhtar and Afridi to come up with their best to secure a berth in Semis, which they deserve based on their performances in last 15 months.
Well, only if India can come out of Tendz, Sehwag, Kaif and Chappel's issues, they will be finalist. Dhoni, Irfan, Raina and Dravid are making a very good combination right now and are steering the current successes in ODIs on their own.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
The Proteas are chokers. I wouldn't look much into their 400 run chase this year against Australia. I would give India and Pakistan the edge over them. Also, I'm hesitant to name India a better contender than Pakistan because their bowling attack is garbage, no offence to any Indian on the forum. They would have a hard time defending any score, and World Cups are not won by tosses. Really.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
yes that is right, there is no bowling threat from india. And there is no batting threat from pak (in one dayers). South Africa I think can beat aussies cuz of their batting and bowling. With ntini and pollock firing they could be really tough not only for india or pakistan, but also for australia. Sure with tres..otic, giles back we would see a new England. Every player is important in cricket.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
The Game is right, the Saffies are hopeless, just like the England ODI team. Pakistan and India (bowling weak but the sheer batting strength warrants attention) will pretty much be only ones in Australia's way.
Lets hope its not a farce like last time where the likes of Kenya are in the semi final.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
You have consistently the most idiotic cricket fan on Gusphup, no matter what the nick is. No batting threat from Pakistan? Sheesh :o . Shmuck.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
To me pakistan has no batting threat. If bowling line up like India can rip them open like pigs, whats left.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
Go watch some cricket Miss flirty, and don’t come back. Thanks :o .
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
take my word for this
INDIA WILL NOT WIN THE WC
there playing good because there on homesoil
INDIA IS A CRAP TEAM wait till they go againest S.A in s.a
in december
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
No challenge from Pakistan against Australia as long as Inzi is the captain.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
^ its not inzi's captaincy that won us last 3 series, but the team unity under his captaincy. Imagine what will happen if this team gets a Khan Sahib type leader. The guys are talented, just need the unity and right skipper.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
here is how I rank them for the world cup:
1.Australia:Australias batting is by far the best in odis ,the only problem they need to address is their bowling which without mcgrath and gilespie is starting to look a bit weak especially in one day cricket.
2.India:India's batting has shown recently that it can comfortably chase down big targets their weakness is in their lack of all rounders and genuine fast bowlers.
3.Pakistan: Inspite of a poor performance in the series against India Pakistan has great all rounders in Afridi and Razzaq who are second to none in scoring runs quickly. Also a stable middle order and Shoaib Akhtar and Asif bowling at their best can prove to be serious challenge for even the best of them.Their weakness is their openers and lack of discipline.
4.South Africa: Chasing down more than 400 against Australia was a big achievement.Have good all rounders and hitters, but their bowling line up is a bit thin and their top order batting a bit inconsistent.
5.England:They need to be concerned about their top order batting. They are relying too much on Flintoff and Pieterson and the rest of their batsmen including Vaughn are not doing well.
6.Newzealand:Their bowling apart from Bond is a bit weak and Vettori is a bit overrated. Also their batting lacks consisteny.
7.Srilanka:Their new batsmen lack talent, and with Jaysuriya struggling and Muralitharan starting to go for plenty of runs...100 for no wicket in one match against australia..their cricket is headed for a slump.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
good job desidudecool. I will probably switch India and Pakistan. Rest looks fine.
Re: world cup: is there any challenge to australia
i get the feeling that the un-luckiest cricket team yet is going to get its fair share of glory this time round
= South Africa!!!
