for some reason I just dont liek French. But they played better soccer today and won. 2nd Half it was all France. What a time to play their best game.

Spain play the similar system to Brazil and it was fascinating to see Spain's offside trap working against Henry but three midfield players breaking that, leaving henry inactive and scoring or attempting to score.

I think France will put out the same team against Brazil and see how they work against them.

France? That wasn't France out there, at least not the France from WC 03 and the group stages of this WC. Wow, what an impressive display, they played like a team possessed

For all bemoaning the foul, that is football, don't cry. The penalty could be disputed too. What a great WC, this was the second best game of the tourney, behind ARG-MEX and ahead of AUS-CRO

see thats where French outsmarted Spain tonight. Did you see firstr goal? see how Henry was in offside position but a midfield player broke in to leave him inactivge and he scored. On another occassion Malouda broke through and almost scored. Spain had to defend high on the pitch to put Henry offside but some midfield player broke through to land a sucker punch, just like Ribery did.

I NEVER bemoned the foul. I bemoaned the stupidity puyol showed there. It was a debatable decision but then again why would a so-called top defender would do such a stupid act of giving away an innocuous free kick when there was NO danger, nothing AT all.

But yeah it was a masterclass execution of a plan by the French. It was like revisiting old times :slight_smile: Go on French, knock the mozay out of Brazil!!! Dt, we will talk then :snooty:

But i still like Zidane's goal. He was so patient and took his time. It was first time i saw him score.

BTW, pretty good analysis Saby. Im still learning the strategies of the game and ESPN doesnt help much.

Oh the irony. 19 months back, spain's coach makes a racist remark about henry. Today Henry puts on an oscar deserving act, leading to a 2nd frech goal.

This will put that retard Spanish coach down to earth. Shooting his mouth of that they were going to put France away easily. The problem with the Spanish team is that they were put in one of the easiest groups in the tourney. They looked like world beaters and everyone in the media made them favorites to win the world cup or at least made them one of the contenders. The players bought into this hype. The problem with Spain was evident today. This side is too young and they made big mistakes. The French expoilted that defense easily in the end. Spain are a good team but not a great team. The French experience in the end was way too much for them to handle.

And I saw a foul against Henry, but Puyols ellbow wasn't in his face, but his stomach. So, the ref decision was correct, however, Henry's faking deserved a yellow card. Kinda remind me of Rivaldo's fake in '02 event.

Spain were just losers: passing the ball around in midfield without any penetration.

you can have all the technical players in the world, but you also need players with vision (Zidane!), and leadership (Zidane)

I feel bad for Spain, really wanted them to win, but their inexperienced team were up against a battle hardened side. Joaquin made an inpact but there was little support and follow up to him and all their attacks wilted away.

I hate the French but they took their chances and deserved to win. Henry has some bad blood with Puyol and other Barca players and got the last laugh tonight.

I am really glad that the black loaded French team defeated the racist pig Luis Aragones's Spaniards. I still can't believe that Luis dropped to such a low level using racist slurs on Henry to motivate his team. Well they all must be racist. Serves them well.
