Well derserved win for Australia. India can still feel better. They only lost two matches in this world cup and both of them to the best team in the world. It is a big achievement for them to make it to the finals. I think in the begining Indian team was very nervous. They have a very young side, and playing the finals after 20 years.
Zaheer and Srinath couldnt get their nerves in check and personally I believe that cost India the match. Aussies got off to a blazing start and from then on end they never gave India a chance. When the batsmen are well set and confiednt it so much harder to get them out then when they are new and under presuure. Had Zaheer and Srinath put the ball in the right spots and taken a couple of quick wickets that would have put a lot of presuure on the coming batsmen and
1. they wouldnt have scored at such a high rate
2. Under pressure they might have played a bad shot and thrown their wicket away.
But in the end we cant take nothing away from Aussies, they played like champs and they deserved this cup more then any other team.
i don't think you can emphasize what a poor bowling and fielding performance this was by the Indians. I mean, no matter how dominating the aussies are, no one should be able to score 359! That is Australia's highest one-day total ever! It's downright embarrassing I tell you. Tendulkar's performance against Pakistan will be spun ad infinitum by the Indian press as the best of the tournament he didn't finish the job (though he did the damage,and given what happened in Chennai in '99, indian fans were more than a little nervous when he got out) but the truth is that Ponting's beating of India was at a different level, and given the stakes, vastly superior. Not only did Australia destroy India, they left them psychologically beaten. India, being a mentally weak team as it is, will have to go through many a shrinks before this one gets out of their system. and now they will be "welcomed" home by their fans.
At least their trash talking will come to an end. A match fixing inquiry should be underway, how the hell could one NOT bat first on that pitch?
