Only problem is that the Iranian leadership have this suicide mentality. They could launch a nuclear attack on Israel to wipe it out and therefore prompt an Israeli retaliatory strike in order to usher in the Mehdi

i thinks its going to be showtime soon. the war mongering has focused purely on iran but both iran and syria know when it happens both will get it. the purpose of concentrating the propaganda on iran is to limit, as much as possible, the syrian buildup.
we can use the palestinian peace process as a gauge for how strong iran and syria are. the minute either have a defensive detterent breakthroughs on peace plans will emerge
its only the fact that israel has no plans to follow any of the acceptable peace proposals that they are willing to go to war to stop any muslim nation from obtaining a defensive detterent. of course one country slipped through the net and only good fortune has allowed this country to safely protect its arsenal for the last 20+ years.
from a pak prospective i think some kind of israelli balancing would be beneficial to deter their wider ambitions. if pakistan becomes the primary focus of israellis then that will present significant danger. with both iran and syria out of the way pakistan and saudi will be the primary targets.
pak does need to sufficiently bulkup a rival of israel to solve a variety of defence and economic problems of its own

If you feel that Iran doesnt care about its destruction, then they can easily attack Israel right NOW, and try to annihlate srael by defeating it with conventional weapons? They'll get annihilated themselves, but supposedly Iran isnt afraid of suicide is it? If Iran doesnt care about its own destruction why doesnt it just march on Israel now?
The world has never needed nuclear weapons as a precursor for war. And Iran has fought conventional wars without waiting to acquire nuclear weapons.
On the one hand you credit Iran with having the strategic wherewithal to wait till its a nuclear power before it takes on Israel, on the other you paint them as suicidal fanatics who dont care about their annihlation and will take out Israel first chance they get regardless of consequences for themselves.
So my question is, why dont they start a conventional war with Israel and bring in the Imam Mehdi right now? If they're the true believers you paint them to be, they would attack Israel with whatever they have.

Maybe Us, Israel and Pakistan are already looking at this possibility, hence the meeting between BB (future Pakistan PM) and the Israeli UN Ambassador recently.

But leaving that aside, missiles arent the only means of warfare you know. Conventional war was always fought with tanks and foot soldiers. Iran has one of the largest war-capable forces in the region, 35 million or so people of fighting age, and an amenable next-door neighbour. Why dont they just march on Israel?
After all, they believe in Mehdi coming whenever they try to "annihilate" Israel no?
