World Bank studies says 1.3% study in Madrasses

There are 1.5 million !!! children studying in “Deeni Madaris” … according to the Pakistan government’s ministry of education …

http://www.moe.gov.pk/Deeni%20Madaris%202004-05%20and%202005-06T3.pdf

I did. That is why I am asking where you got those figures. More importantly I want to know if you discounted for age groups, gender and location when you came up with that retarded figure?

Khek - Good to know you consider world bank figures meaningless. They must be so upset.

Aam banda typical. Don't agree with the world Bank but agree with the Pakistan Govt because it suits your political agenda. Do you Indians have no more fibre at all?

Thanks for posting this. Puts things into perspective, unlike percentages on their own.

Re: World Bank studies says 1.3% study in Madrasses

LMAO! The World Bank figures are meaningless. But figures that the Government of Pakistan provides that are 3 or 4 years old are relevant. :hehe:

well as far as i know about 70% of children in Pakistan study in madrassahs and most of them belong to poor families

the report is wrong

There is no hehe about this serious topic.

Quoting percentage alone (as 1.3%) was intellectually incorrect on your part, while people who rejected the WB report outright were off base as well.

The bottom line is that Pakistani madrassahs are churning out 100,000 of students, regardless of the fact as to what Pak gov figures say or WB %ages say.

BTW the WB report had a preconceived idea that Pakistan /USA should support private schools in Pakistan because they are more efficient compared to government schools. The report's emphasis was not to prove anything about Madrassahs the way you ended up starting this thread. This my friend at a minimum is intellectual dishonesty.

peace!

Re: World Bank studies says 1.3% study in Madrasses

^ The titles of the papers are:

**Religious School Enrollment in Pakistan
A Look at the Data

Madrassa Metrics: The Statistics and Rhetoric of Religious Enrollment in Pakistan**

If you think the emphasis was not on Madrassas, it is at a minimum lack of intellectual capacity.

Perhaps you are right.

But do read the full report. This is a mistake not to read the report (or at least skim through it).

CM picked up on the title only, and so did his opponents.

We the posters on this forum are blessed with so much from Allah. Thus it is important that we not indulge in misusing these figures as they deal with the future of our beautiful country.

As I said before, Pakistani madrassahs are churning out 1000s of student every year and the enrollment in such places is in the tune of 200K to 800K as per the WB report.

That LARGE number cannot be relegated to "smallness" based on 1.3% misquoted figure.

That's all.

Get serious guys. Otherwise soon our country will be looking like Chad-infested Islamic Republic of Sudan, or worse Islamic Emirates of Afghanistan or some other gad-forsaken tribal cesspool of Africa.

Re: World Bank studies says 1.3% study in Madrasses

^ I dont have problems with the number. And I did read the report. Rather, I had to. I does talk about madrassas and how private schools are filling the void left by the public schools. You should rather be happy that its not madrassa schools filling the void.

We all know the problems with madrassas, public schools and private schools. About time we do something to improve the situation.

P.S. Closing down madrassas is NOT a solution.
P.S. II. Bombing all the madrassas is definitely NOT a solution.

Challo, the jamati “santific” method has now been introduced to the thread. Hide your children… :hehe:

Figures for “world bank” funded report are also from 2005 … the same year as GOP. Here is the original article on foreign policy magazine refered in Dawn

Foreign Policy: The Madrasa Myth

First, contrary to the public hysteria about madrasas serving as “weapons of mass instruction,” in 2005, just 1.3 percent of children in Pakistan’s four main provinces attended madrasas

Hehehe … world bank funded report … check

The findings, interpretations, and conclusions expressed here are those of the authors and do not necessarily represent the views of the World Bank, its executive directors, or the governments they represent

Agreed.

Just treat Madrassa as an INSTITUTION.

Then we must ask the government and the army to destroy / ban / closedown / clampdown etc. ANY institution that spreads fasad aka anarchy in the country.

What iqbal said:

Qari nazar aatya hai
haqiqat main hai bum-mar

And bum-mars should be hanged with trees all over the country. Otherwise bum-mari beemari will explode and bomb the whole Pakistan inch by inch, girl school by girl school, college by college, hotel by hotel, and bridge by bridge.
